Highlanders F.C.
Highlanders Football Club, or more commonly Highlanders F.C., is a Zimbabwean football club based in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe that plays in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League. It is also known colloquially as iBosso, Amahlolanyama. Founded in 1926 as Lions Football Club, composed mainly of boys born in Makokoba (Bulawayo's oldest township) by two of the Ndebele Lobengula, King Lobengula's grandsons, Albert and Rhodes, who were sons of Njube. In 1936, the players changed the name to Matebeleland Highlanders Football Club. Nicknames Highlanders are known by their nicknames, Bosso, Tshilamoya, Amahlolanyama, Ezikamagebhula, High High, and Mantengwane among many others. Bosso is derived from Tswana language, Setswana slang and means "The Boss. "Tshilamoya is Northern Ndebele language, IsiNdebele and, loosely interpreted, could mean "big-upsetters" or "demoralisers", a term coined in apparent reference to the Team's nemesis. Barbourfields Stadium
Barbourfields Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located iBarbourfields Suburbin Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The stadium is currently used mostly for association football, football matches. It is owned by Bulawayo, Bulawayo City Council and it is the home of Highlanders F.C., one of the biggest association football clubs in Zimbabwe. Football fans commonly refer to the stadium as "Emagumeni" meaning "our yard" in iSiNdebele. As of 2017, Barbourfields Stadium may be used as homeground to other football teams in and around Bulawayo including Bantu Rovers FC, How Mine FC and Chicken Inn FC, but mostly, when they play big teams. The stadium consists of four stands including the most famous ones; the Mpilo End (usually for the away fans), and, of course, the Soweto End (for the 'die hard' home fans). Battle Of Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League is the top professional division of the Zimbabwe Football Association. It was founded in 1980, as a successor to the 1962 formed ''Rhodesia National Football League.'' It is currently sponsored by Delta Beverages under the Castle Lager brand and hence is known as Castle Lager Premier Soccer League. The current sponsorship deal runs from 2011 and is worth $3.6 million. The league consists of 18 teams listed below, that play a total of 34 matches. The season runs from April to November. Most matches are played during weekends on Saturdays and Sundays. Postponed matches are played midweek. At the end of the season four teams are relegated into the lower division and an equal number promoted. Obadiah Tarumbwa
Obadiah Danger Tarumbwa (born 25 November 1985 in Bulawayo) is a Zimbabwean football player who plays for Chicken Inn in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League as an attacking midfielder. Career In February 2008, he signed a 6-month deal with Belgian first division team Cercle Brugge. At Cercle he was reunited with his former Highlanders FC colleagues Vusumuzi Nyoni and Honour Gombami, by whom he was tipped to the Cercle board. He is a member of the Zimbabwe national football team. His contract with Cercle Brugge was ended on 13 March 2009. He returned to his home country and signed for Bantu Rovers.
