High Point Panthers Baseball
The High Point Panthers baseball team represents High Point University, which is located in High Point, North Carolina. The Panthers are an NCAA Division I college baseball program that competes in the Big South Conference. They began competing in Division I in 2000 and joined the Big South Conference the same season. The High Point Panthers play all home games on campus at George S. Erath Field. Over their 20 seasons in the Big South Conference, they have played in 17 Big South Tournaments, advancing to the finals in 2018 where they fell to top-seed Campbell. Since the program's inception in 1933, three Panthers have gone on to play in Major League Baseball: infielder Dick Culler and relief pitchers Cody Allen and Jaime Schultz. Joey Hammond
Joseph Sydney Hammond (born October 27, 1977) is an American baseball coach and former utility player, who is the current head baseball coach of the High Point Panthers. He played college baseball at Charlotte for head coach Loren Hibbs from 1996 to 1998 before playing professionally from 1998 to 2008. Playing career Hammond attended Governor Thomas Johnson High School and played college baseball at Charlotte. Coaching career Hammond began his coaching career at Westchester Country Day School Westchester Country Day School, formerly called ''Westchester Academy'', is an independent, nonsectarian school that is situated just outside High Point, North Carolina, United States. Craig Cozart
Craig Cozart is an American baseball coach and former player. He played college baseball at UCF from 1993 to 1996. He then served as the head coach of the UCF Knights (2008) and High Point Panthers (2009–2021). Playing career Cozart played at UCF under head coach Jay Bergman from 1993 to 1996. He was drafted twice, in the 42nd round by the Braves after his junior season and in the 28th round by the Giants after his senior season, but decided not to pursue a professional career. He earned his bachelor's degree from UCF in December 1996. Coaching career UCF Cozart began his coaching career under Bergman immediately after graduating, serving as a student assistant in 1997. In 1998, he became a full assistant coach, a position he held through the 2008 season. From 1997 to 2007, the Knights appeared in five NCAA Tournaments.
