A civil township is a widely used unit of local government in the United States that is subordinate to a county, most often in the northern and midwestern parts of the country. The term town is used in New England, New York, and Wisconsin to refer to the equivalent of the civil township in these states; Minnesota uses "town" officially but often uses it and "township" interchangeably. State Road 38 in the U.S. State of Indiana serves as a connection between Lafayette in the west and Richmond in the east. Route description State Road 38 begins in Lafayette with State Road 25 and U.S. Route 52. There is an interchange with Interstate 65 at exit 168. It proceeds east-southeast through Frankfort and Sheridan, then through the north Indianapolis suburb of Noblesville. State Road 3 (SR 3) in the U.S. state of Indiana is a discontinuous state highway running through eastern Indiana from near the Ohio River to near the Michigan state line. The southernmost terminus is at SR 62 in Charlestown, and the northernmost terminus is at SR 120 near Brighton. The route was continuous until 1972, when the route was split into two segments that exist today.
