Henry Bruce, 2nd Baron Aberdare
Henry Campbell Bruce, 2nd Baron Aberdare (19 June 1851 – 20 February 1929), styled The Honourable from 1873 to 1895, was a British soldier and peer. Background Born in Merthyr Tydfil, Bruce was the eldest son of Henry Bruce, 1st Baron Aberdare, who had served as Home Secretary.Dod (1915), p. 41. His mother Annabella was his father's first wife and the daughter of Richard Beadon. He was educated at Rugby School and at the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Berlin. In 1895, he succeeded his father as baron. Career His military career, by virtue of his status in the nobility, was started early: he served in the Welch Regiment and became a major of the 3rd Battalion in 1899. Albert Edward Harry Meyer Archibald Primrose, 6th Earl of Rosebery, 2nd Earl of Midlothian, (8 January 1882 – 31 May 1974), styled Lord Dalmeny until 1929, was a British liberal politician who briefly served as Secretary of State for Scotland in 1945. Algernon Henry Strutt, 3rd Baron Belper (6 May 1883 – 20 May 1956), was 3rd Baron Belper from 1914 to 1956. He entered the British Army in August 1908 and gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 2nd Life Guards. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baron Belper, of Belper, on 26 July 1914. Dudley Francis Amelius Hervey (7 January 1849 – 1 June 1911) was a British colonial administrative service officer. Early life and education Hervey was born on 7 January 1849 in Great Chesterford, Essex, and was the second son of Rev. Lord Charles Hervey, whose father was the 1st Marquess of Bristol. He was educated at Marlborough College. Career After completing his education he joined the Colonial Service as a cadet in 1867, and went to the Straits Settlements. Baron Grimthorpe, of Grimthorpe in the East Riding of the County of York, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
