Hemi Naga
Naga is an umbrella term for several indigenous communities in Northeast India and Upper Burma. The word Naga originated as an exonym. Today, it covers a number of ethnic groups that reside in the Indian states of Nagaland, Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh and also in Myanmar. Before the arrival of the British, the term "Naga" was used in Assam to refer to certain isolated ethnic groups. The British adopted this term for a number of ethnic groups in the surrounding area, based on loose linguistic and cultural associations. Nagaland became the 16th state on 1 December 1965. S. R. Tohring (2010) lists 66 Naga ethnic groups whereas Kibangwar Jamir (2016) lists 67 ethnic groups. The 1991 Census of India listed 35 Naga groups as Scheduled Tribes: 17 in Nagaland, 15 in Manipur and 3 in Arunachal Pradesh. Illinois V
Illinois ( ) is a state in the Midwestern United States. It borders on Lake Michigan to its northeast, the Mississippi River to its west, and the Wabash and Ohio rivers to its south. Of the fifty U.S. states, Illinois has the fifth-largest gross domestic product (GDP), the sixth-largest population, and the 25th-most land area. Its capital city is Springfield in the center of the state, and the state's largest city is Chicago in the northeast. Present-day Illinois was inhabited by Indigenous cultures for thousands of years. The French were the first Europeans to arrive, settling near the Mississippi and Illinois rivers in the 17th century Illinois Country, as part of their sprawling colony of New France. A century later, the revolutionary war Illinois campaign prefigured American involvement in the region. Following U.S. independence in 1783, which made the Mississippi River the national boundary, American settlers began arriving from Kentucky via the Ohio River. Ill ... Prefix
A prefix is an affix which is placed before the stem of a word. Particularly in the study of languages, a prefix is also called a preformative, because it alters the form of the word to which it is affixed. Prefixes, like other affixes, can be either inflectional, creating a new form of a word with the same basic meaning and same lexical category, or derivational, creating a new word with a new semantic meaning and sometimes also a different lexical category. Prefixes, like all affixes, are usually bound morphemes. English has no inflectional prefixes, using only suffixes for that purpose. Adding a prefix to the beginning of an English word changes it to a different word. For example, when the prefix ''un-'' is added to the word ''happy'', it creates the word ''unhappy''. The word ''prefix'' is itself made up of the stem ''fix'' (meaning "attach", in this case), and the prefix ''pre-'' (meaning "before"), both of which are derived from Latin roots. Chrysler Hemi Engine
The Chrysler Hemi engine, known by the trademark Hemi or HEMI, refers to a series of high-performance American overhead valve V8 engines built by Chrysler with hemispherical combustion chambers. Three generations have been produced: the FirePower series (with displacements from to ) from 1951 to 1958; a famed race and street engine from 1964-1971; and family of advanced Hemis (displacing between since 2003. Although Chrysler is most identified with the use of "Hemi" as a marketing term, many other auto manufacturers have incorporated similar cylinder head designs. The engine block and cylinder heads were cast and manufactured at Indianapolis Foundry. During the 1970s and 1980s, Chrysler also applied the term ''Hemi'' to their Australian-made Hemi-6 Engine, and a 4-cylinder Mitsubishi 2.6L engine installed in various North American market vehicles. Design The main advantage of a hemi head engine over other head designs is power. In return, hemi head engines tend to ... Donovan Hemi
The Donovan hemi is an American Top Fuel drag racing engine, designed and built by Ed Donovan and first appearing in 1971. In the 1970s, it was the most popular engine in Top Fuel dragsters. History Donovan developed the hemi-head V8 to overcome the tendency of Chryslers, then used by Top Fuel racers (many of them friends and customers of his), to crack their iron blocks. He copied the , which he admired, but tried to eliminate its deficiencies. Donovan milled all the internal oil and water passages, and (unlike the stock 392) sleeved the block with chrome- moly cylinder liners, which were stronger as well as easy to replace. Donovan also enlarged the supports for the main bearings, which Chrysler would do with the B-block. Cast from aluminium rather than iron, the engine weighed under bare, compared to for the Chrysler. Hemispherical Combustion Chamber
A hemispherical combustion chamber is a combustion chamber in the cylinder head of an internal combustion engine with a domed "sphere, hemispheric" shape. An engine featuring this type of hemispherical chamber is known as a hemi engine. In practice, shapes less than a full hemisphere are typically employed, as are variations (or faceting in parts) of a true hemispheric profile. The primary advantage of such shapes are increased compression (leading to greater power) and very large intake and exhaust valves (allowing better flow of intake and exhaust gasses, also resulting in improved volumetric efficiency and greater power); the primary disadvantages are complex valve trains (caused by valves being placed opposite one-another in a head) and expense (of machining the heads and pistons, and additional valve train components). While hemispherical combustion chambers are still found in the 2000s multi-valve arrangements (of four and even five valves per cylinder) and the popularit ... Te Mamaku
Hēmi Tōpine Te Mamaku (died June 1887) was a Māori chief in the Ngāti Hāua-te-rangi iwi from the Whanganui region of New Zealand's North Island. Te Mamaku was born probably in the late 18th century and raised in the Whanganui area. As tribal chief he commanded a pā at Tuhua, at a strategic position on the Ohura River, north of Taumarunui. During the Musket Wars Te Mamaku was sometimes allied with Ngāti Toa chief Te Rauparaha and sometimes fought against him. At the outbreak of the Hutt Valley Campaign in 1846, he was firmly on the side of Te Rauparaha's nephew Te Rangihaeata in resisting the encroachment of European settlers on to Māori land. On 16 May 1846, Te Mamaku led a force of about 200 warriors in a devastating surprise dawn attack on British troops at Boulcott's Farm in the Hutt Valley. Afterwards, he sent letters to other chiefs in the Whanganui area urging them to join in the conflict. Some were intercepted and forwarded to the government, which may have preci ...
