Heisei Fūzoku
, also known as ''Japanese Manners'', is a studio album by Japanese singer-songwriter Ringo Sheena and conductor and violinist Neko Saitō, released on February 21, 2007. The vinyl record version and the DVD "Daiginjou" were released on April 25, 2007. This album serves as the soundtrack for the movie . Background Ringo Sheena initially intended to create a highly produced, computer-based sound for the soundtrack and went as far as to record some instrumental demos. However, director Mika Ninagawa demanded songs with lyrics, so she decided to record orchestrated versions using Neko Saitō's arrangements, which he had previously written for her concerts. Though she originally intended to make this album with Tokyo Jihen, drummer Toshiki Hata broke his leg and thus only the other band members were able to participate. Ringo Sheena
, known by her stage name , is a Japanese singer, songwriter and musician. She is also the founder and lead vocalist of the band Tokyo Jihen. She describes herself as "". She was ranked number 36 in a list of Japan's top 100 musicians compiled by HMV in 2003. Early life Sheena was born with an esophageal atresia in which the esophagus narrows as it approaches the stomach. Treatment of this involved several operations, at least one of which required her right shoulder blade to be cut open. These surgeries left Sheena with large scars on her shoulder blades, said to give the impression that an angel's wings had been removed. Initial solo career Sheena released her first official single " Kōfukuron" in May 1998, when she was 19 years old. Soil & "Pimp" Sessions (stylised as SOIL&"PIMP"SESSIONS) is a Japanese club jazz sextet who formed in Tokyo, Japan, in 2001. They are known for their energetic live performances, having coined the term "death jazz" to describe their music. History The band was born out of Tokyo's club scene, when Shacho and Tabu Zombie started including live jam sessions in DJ sets. Gradually the other members were invited, the band's line-up was finalised and the DJ sets dropped. The band's live sets started to create a buzz on the Tokyo live scene, and in 2003 they became the first unsigned band to perform at Japan's Fuji Rock Festival. Background The song was first released as a digital single on November 11, 2006, , performed by Ringo Sheena and Soil & "Pimp" Sessions and sung in Japanese.
