Hefer Valley Regional Council
The Hefer Valley Regional Council (, ''Mo'atza Azorit Emek Hefer'') is a regional council in the Sharon region of the Central District of Israel. It is named after an administrative district in this area in the time of King Solomon (). The council covers an area adjacent to Hadera in the north, to Netanya in the south, to the Mediterranean in the west and to Tulkarm and the Green Line in the east. As of December 2020, the jurisdiction area of the council has a population of about 42,600 people. The Regional Council offices are located near Kfar Monash, at the Ruppin junction, next to the Ruppin Academic Center. Regional Council (Israel)
Regional councils (plural: , ''Mo'atzot Ezoriyot'' / singular: , ''Mo'atza Ezorit'') are one of the three types of Israel's Local government in Israel, local government entities, with the other two being City council (Israel), cities and Local council (Israel), local councils. As of 2019, there were 54 regional councils, usually responsible for governing a number of settlements spread across rural areas. Regional councils include representation of anywhere between 3 and 54 communities, usually spread over a relatively large area within geographical vicinity of each other. Avihayil (, lit. ''Father of strength'') is a moshav in central Israel. Located to the north-east of Netanya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Hefer Valley Regional Council. In it had a population of . Name The moshav was named after the biological father of biblical Esther (). History In 1921, Jewish veterans of the British Army during World War I settled on desert land allocated to it by the British Mandate government in the northeastern Negev, near Tel Arad. However, the settlement was abandoned after no water was found. As part of the Settlement of the Thousand scheme, a new village was founded in the Emek Hefer on 19 July 1932 on a stretch of sand dunes on land owned by the Jewish National Fund. Jewish Brigade
The Jewish Infantry Brigade Group, more commonly known as the Jewish Brigade Group or Jewish Brigade, was a military formation of the British Army in the World War II, Second World War. It was formed in late 1944 and was recruited among Yishuv, Yishuv Jews from Mandatory Palestine and commanded by British Jews, Anglo-Jewish officers. It served in the latter stages of the Italian Campaign (World War II), Italian Campaign, and was disbanded in 1946. After the war, some members of the Brigade assisted Holocaust survivors to illegally emigrate to Mandatory Palestine as part of Aliyah Bet, in defiance of British restrictions. Givat Haim
Givat Haim () was a kibbutz located around five kilometres south of Hadera in Israel. Kibbutz Movement
The Kibbutz Movement (, ''HaTnu'a HaKibbutzit'') is the largest settlement movement for kibbutzim in Israel. It was formed in 1999 by a partial merger of the United Kibbutz Movement and Kibbutz Artzi and is made up of approximately 230 kibbutzim. It does not include the Religious Kibbutz Movement with its 16 kibbutzim or the two Poalei Agudat Yisrael-affiliated religious kibbutzim. Ein HaHoresh
Ein HaHoresh () is a kibbutz in the Sharon region of the Central District of Israel. Located to the north of Netanya and to the south of Hadera, it falls under the jurisdiction of the Hefer Valley Regional Council. In it had a population of . History It was founded in November 1931 by Hashomer Hatzair members from Eastern Europe. It was one of the first European settlements in the northern part of the Emek Hefer. The name of the kibbutz originates from a mistranslation of the Arabic name for the area, Wadi al-Hawarith () which was mistakenly translated as "valley of ploughmen." In fact, it originally referred to a Bedouin tribe that had arrived in the area from Egypt. The kibbutz was cordoned off and occupied by the British in December 1945 in connection with the struggle for free immigration. Hashomer Hatzair (, , 'The Young Guard') is a Labor Zionism, Labor Zionist, secular Jewish youth movement founded in 1913 in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, Austria-Hungary. Kfar Vitkin () is a moshav in central Israel. Located near Netanya, it falls under the jurisdiction of Hefer Valley Regional Council and was the first Jewish settlement in the valley. The Zionist Congress was established in 1897 by Theodor Herzl as the supreme organ of the Zionist Organization (ZO) and its legislative authority. In 1960 the names were changed to World Zionist Congress ( ''HaKongres HaTsioni HaOlami'') and World Zionist Organization (WZO), respectively.
