Heart Butte (Blackfeet: ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pondera County, Montana, United States. The population was 698 at the 2000 census. The town is on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The town takes its name from the small heart-shaped peak southwest of town. Geography Heart Butte is located at (48.290058, -112.834432). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of , of which is land and (0.44%) is water. Demographics As of the census of 2000, there were 698 people, 164 households, and 142 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 154.9 people per square mile (59.9/km2). There were 185 housing units at an average density of 41.1 per square mile (15.9/km2). Minnie Spotted-Wolf (1923–1988) was the first Native American woman to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.
