Healthy Serbia
Healthy Serbia (, abbr. ZS) is a right-wing political party in Serbia. It was founded in 2017 by Milan Stamatović, the long-time mayor of Čajetina. History After leaving the Democratic Party of Serbia and further disagreements with the President of the Serbian People's Party Nenad Popović over Popović's support for the ruling party's leader Aleksandar Vučić's candidacy at the 2017 Serbian Presidential election, Milan Stamatović decided to run for President himself. Together with his supporters, he founded the "For a Healthy Serbia" Citizens' Group, which nominated him. Stamatović received 1.15% of the overall votes in Serbia, but the fact that he won 61.23% of votes in his hometown of Čajetina encouraged him to found his own political party. Milan Stamatović
Milan Stamatović (Serbian Cyrillic: Милан Стаматовић, ; born 24 May 1960) is a Serbian politician who has been the president of the municipality of Čajetina since 2004. He was an independent candidate in the 2017 Serbian presidential election. Since 2017, he has led the Healthy Serbia party. Political career Early career and campaigns From 1996 to 2000, Stamatović was a member of the Democratic Movement of Serbia in opposition to Slobodan Milošević. In 2000, he joined the Democratic Party of Serbia, which he represented until 2014. In 2014, Stamatović, Nenad Popović, and others left DSS to form the Serbian People's Party. The president of Serbia (), officially styled as President of the Republic (), is the head of state of Serbia. The current officeholder is Aleksandar Vučić, who was elected in 2017 and has held the role since 31 May 2017. The Sovereignists ( sr-cyrl, Суверенисти, Suverenisti) were a right-wing populist political coalition in Serbia that participated in the 2022 general election. 2022 Serbian General Election
General elections were held in Serbia on 3 April 2022 to elect both the president of Serbia and members of the National Assembly. Initially, parliamentary elections were scheduled to be held in 2024; however, in October 2020 president Aleksandar Vučić said that snap parliamentary elections would be held in or before April 2022. In addition to the general elections, local elections were held simultaneously in 12 municipalities and 2 cities, including Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) came to power after the 2012 election when it formed a coalition government with the Socialist Party of Serbia. I Live For Serbia
Far-right politics in Serbia emerged shortly before the break-up of Yugoslavia and have been present ever since. Its manifestation mostly relies on national and religious factors. In the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, far-right politicians and groups existed but did not receive much support. Milan Stojadinović, the prime minister of Yugoslavia from 1935 until 1939, saw fascism as an ideological role model for his premiership, while Milan Nedić, who was appointed prime minister of the puppet government in 1941, was a supporter of fascist ideas. Dimitrije Ljotić headed Zbor, a minor party that was inspired by Italian fascism. Ljotić cooperated with Bishop Nikolaj Velimirović, who is viewed as an antisemite and a promoter of anti-Western sentiment. Better Serbia ( sr-cyr, Боља Србија, Bolja Srbija, BS) was a national-conservative political party in Serbia. Its leader was Dragan Jovanović, a former member of New Serbia. It was the main governing party in the municipality of Topola. Origins and current status Jovanović was a longtime member of New Serbia (NS) before his expulsion from the party in January 2017, which occurred against the backdrop of a quarrel with party leader Velimir Ilić. Dveri
The Serbian Movement Dveri (), commonly just known as Dveri (), is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Serbia. Its current president since 2024 is Ivan Kostić, who succeeded Boško Obradović, one of the co-founders of the party. Formed as a youth-orientated political organisation in 1999, it published an eponymous student magazine that promoted clerical and nationalist content. Through the 2000s, it operated as a non-governmental organisation that campaigned in favour of Christian right views, that included opposition to abortion and opposition to gay rights.
