Richard Headlee
Richard Harold Headlee (May 16, 1930 – November 9, 2004) was an American businessman and politician from Michigan. He was the unsuccessful Republican nominee for Governor of Michigan in the 1982 election. He was also known as the author of the Headlee Amendment, which requires voters' approval for many tax increases in Michigan. Early life Headlee was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to William Clark and Violet Lunn Headlee and grew up in Richfield, Utah. He graduated from Utah State University in 1953. After graduating from college, Headlee joined the US military and was stationed in Mannheim, Germany. He then came to Bountiful, Utah, where he joined the Jaycees and eventually became its national president in 1963. Political career In 1964, Headlee moved to Michigan. Celeste Headlee (born December 30, 1969) is an American radio journalist, author, public speaker, and co-host of the weekly series ''Retro Report on PBS.'' In her 20-year career in public radio, Headlee has served as the host of the Georgia Public Broadcasting program "On Second Thought" and co-host of the national morning news show ''The Takeaway''. Before 2009, she was the Midwest Correspondent for NPR's '' Day to Day'' and the host of a weekly show on Detroit Public Radio. Headlee is the author of ''We Need to Talk: How to Have Conversations That Matter'' (Harper Wave, September 19, 2017). Headlee, Indiana
Headlee is an unincorporated rural hamlet located in White County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is also part of the Cass Township of Indiana. History A post office was established at Headlee in 1877, and remained in operation until 1907. The Headlee family were among the first settlers in the area. The hamlet is entirely residential now.
