Hasselt Ferraris
Hasselt (, , ) is the capital and largest city of the province of Limburg in the Flemish Region of Belgium. As of 1 August 2023, Hasselt had a total population of 80,846. The old town of Hasselt is surrounded by a number of satellite hamlets including Kiewit, Runkst, Banneuxwijk, Godsheide and Rapertingen. Further away are several sub-municipalities which were once within independent municipalities, including Kermt, Kuringen, Sint-Lambrechts-Herk, Spalbeek, Stevoort, Stokrooie, and Wimmertingen. Geographically, Hasselt is located between the Campine region, north of the Demer river, and the Hesbaye region, to the south. Both the Demer river and the Albert Canal run through the municipality. Steven Vandeput
Steven Vandeput (born 30 March 1967) is a Belgium, Belgian politician and is affiliated to the New Flemish Alliance. He was elected as a member of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives in 2010. In October 2014 he became the Minister of Defence in the Michel I Government, Michel Government. He was succeeded by Sander Loones on 12 November 2018 after Vandeput became mayor of Hasselt on 1 January 2019. Biography Early life Vandeput was born in 1967 in Hasselt. County Of Loon
The County of Loon ( , ) was a county in the Holy Roman Empire, which corresponded approximately with the modern Belgian province of Limburg. It was named after the original seat of its count, Loon, which is today called Borgloon. During the middle ages the counts moved their court to a more central position in Kuringen, which today forms part of Hasselt, capital of the province. From its beginnings, Loon was associated with the nearby Prince-bishop of Liège, and by 1190 the count had come under the bishop's overlordship. In the fourteenth century the male line ended for a second time, at which point the prince-bishops themselves took over the county directly. Loon approximately represented the Dutch-speaking (archaic ) part of the princedom. The Euregio Meuse-Rhine ( , , , ) is a Euroregion created in 1976, with judicial status achieved in 1991. Albert Canal
The Albert Canal (, ; , ) is a canal located in northeastern Belgium, which was named for King Albert I of Belgium. The Albert Canal connects Antwerp with Liège, and also the Meuse river with the Scheldt river. It also connects with the Dessel–Turnhout–Schoten Canal, and its total length is . The Demer is an long river in eastern Belgium, and a right tributary of the Dijle. It flows through the Belgian provinces Limburg and Flemish Brabant. Its source is near Tongeren.
