Dechantskirchen is a municipality in the district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria, Austria. At 1. January 2015 it was expanded by a part (Katastralgemeinde Schlag) of the to this date existing immediate neighbor municipality Schlag bei Thalberg within the scope of the Gemeindestrukturreform. Geographie Geographical position Dechantskirchen is placed in the northeast of the district Hartberg-Fürstenfeld and also of Styria. The municipality resides approximately 15 km north of the district capital Hartberg. Ilz, Styria
Ilz is a municipality in the district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria, Austria. It is located at 47° 05' N, 15° 56' O and approx. 300 m above sea level, at the Left Bank of the river Ilz, in the 1 km wide and fruitful Ilz valley, 43 km to the east of Graz, 19 km to the east of Gleisdorf, and 13 km to the west of Fürstenfeld. It was named first in a writ issued on 14 October 1265 in Graz by Herbord of Fullnstein, who was sewer of bishop Bruno of Olmütz. Grafendorf Bei Hartberg
Grafendorf bei Hartberg is a municipality in the district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld in Styria, Austria. History The area around Grafendorf was inhabited already in the Neolithic Age, as some finds prove. Then the Romans around 15 BC. The current municipal area became part of the province of Noricum. Some finds indicate a settlement. Subsequently, the Slavs settled in the municipality. At the end of the 8th century, Charlemagne made it to the Frankish Empire. Soon after, the eastern Styria was conquered by the Hungarians, so that the settlement only after the reconquest by Henry III. could be continued. Fürstenfeld
Fürstenfeld (; ) is a small historic city in Styria, Austria. It is situated near the border with Hungary, which is why the city was originally founded. The town has become quite famous in Austria and Germany because of the song by the same name by Styrian band S.T.S.. Fürstenfeld has a population of some 10,360 as of January 1st 2025. It was the centre of an eponymous district until the end of 2012, when it was merged with Hartberg to form the district of Hartberg-Fürstenfeld. Fürstenfeld was founded around 1170 as a defense against the Hungarians (the present Austrian state of Burgenland was part of Hungary until after World War I, so Fürstenfeld used to lie right on the border) and received its town charter in 1215.
