Harrisville, Michigan
Harrisville is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Alcona County. The population was 437 at the 2020 census, making Harrisville the sixth-smallest city by population in the state of Michigan. The city is surrounded by Harrisville Township but is administratively autonomous. Located on Lake Huron, it is an official Michigan Department of Natural Resources Harbor of Refuge. History The place was first known as Davison's Mill after Crosier Davison, who in partnership with Simeon Holden, had purchased land and water power rights here in 1854. Benjamin Harris and his sons, Levi and Henry, of West Bloomfield, New York bought out the partners. A post office established on September 16, 1857, was named Harrisville, with Levi as the first postmaster. The Harrises sold out to Weston, (George L.) Colwell & Company, who had H.G. Harrisville State Park is a public recreation area covering on the shore of Lake Huron off U.S. Route 23 in Harrisville and Harrisville Township, Alcona County, Michigan. The state park contains more than 100 acres of heavily forested land as well as a mile-long sandy beach. It is considered an important location for birders, with large and varied migratory populations of warblers and other song birds. Kiki Cuyler
Hazen Shirley Cuyler (; August 30, 1898 – February 11, 1950), nicknamed "Kiki", was an American professional baseball right fielder. He played in Major League Baseball for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, and Brooklyn Dodgers from 1921 until 1938. Cuyler led the National League (NL) in stolen bases four times, runs scored two times and had a batting average of over .350 on four occasions. His 26 triples in 1925 were the second most triples in any season after 1900. He compiled over 200 hits in three separate seasons and won the World Series in 1925 with the Pirates. West Bloomfield is a town in Ontario County, New York, United States. The population was 2,760 at the 2020 census. The Town of West Bloomfield is on the county's western border and sits parallel to the Town of East Bloomfield, both of which lie south of the City of Rochester. History The town is within the historic homeland of the Seneca Nation, and tradition holds that three of the tribe's villages were located in the town.
