Harrison Township is one of twelve townships in Harrison County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 12,484 and it contained 5,282 housing units. Corydon, the county seat of Harrison County, is in Harrison Township. History The township, like the county, is named for governor, general and ninth President William Henry Harrison. The majority of land in the township was in his possession in the first decade of the 19th century. He donated a parcel of land for the construction of Corydon and sold much of the rest of his land in the township by 1815 to the settlers who were rapidly occupying the countryside. Corydon Battle Site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. State Road 337 in the U.S. State of Indiana is divided into a northern section and a southern section. Route description Southern section The southern section is about long. Starting at State Road 64 in Depauw it runs along rolling hills toward Corydon. The Harrison County Hospital is located on the stretch next to Interstate 64 . An interchange with Interstate 64 is proposed to relieve traffic flow on nearby State Road 135. From Corydon, State Road 337 runs south-southeast for about twelve miles (19 km) to its southern terminus with State Road 11. State Road 135 (SR 135) in the U.S. State of Indiana is a road that connects Indianapolis with the Ohio River; for the most part it is a two-lane road except for near Greenwood and Indianapolis.
