HarmonyOS NEXT ( zh, s=鸿蒙星河版, p=Hóngméng Xīnghébǎn) is a proprietary software, proprietary distributed operating system that succeeded the similarly named HarmonyOS, with the main difference that the "Next" operating system was developed by Huawei to support only HarmonyOS Native (computing), native App (file format), apps. Unlike Android-based HarmonyOS versions 1 to 4 (2019-2024) and the global market EMUI operating system, the Next version (starting with HarmonyOS Next 5) does not include the Android Android (operating system), AOSP core and is incompatible with Android applications. HarmonyOS (HMOS) ( zh, s=鸿蒙, p=Hóngméng, tr=Vast Mist) is a distributed operating system developed by Huawei for smartphones, tablet computer, tablets, smart TVs, smart watches, personal computers and other smart devices. It has a microkernel design with a single framework: the operating system selects suitable kernels from the abstraction layer in the case of devices that use diverse resources. HarmonyOS was officially launched by Huawei, and first used in Honor (brand), Honor smart TVs, in August 2019. It was later used in Huawei wireless routers, Internet of things, IoT in 2020, followed by smartphones, Tablet computer, tablets and smartwatches from June 2021.
