Handball At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's Tournament
The men's handball tournament at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held from 28 July to 12 August at the Olympic Park. The group stage matches were held at the Copper Box and the knockout rounds took place at the larger Basketball Arena. Twelve nations were represented in the tournament. The four best teams from each group advanced to a quarter-final round, while the 5th and 6th teams in each group were classified 9th–12th by the results of their group matches. Unlike in previous Olympics there was no placement matches involving the losing teams of the quarter-finals. Niclas Ekberg
Niclas Ekberg (born 23 December 1988) is a Swedish professional handballer for Ystads IF and Sweden men's national handball team. He is known to be an exceptionally prolific goalscorer and holds many different goalscoring records at his club, THW Kiel. Career Ekberg started his career at IFK Ystad HK, IFK Ystad. In the 2008-2009 season he scored the second most goals in the Swedish league and was named ''Årets Komet''. He then joined city rivals Ystads IF HF, Ystads IF. With Ystad IF he played in the EHF Challenge Cup in the 2009-10 season. In the summer of 2010 he joined Danish side AG København Here he won back-to-back Danish league and Danish cup doubles. Diego Esteban Simonet Moldes (born 26 December 1989) is an Argentine handball player for Montpellier and the Argentina men's national handball team. He represented Argentina at the 2011 World Men's Handball Championship in Sweden, 2012 London Summer Olympics, 2013 World Men's Handball Championship in Spain and 2015 World Men's Handball Championship in Qatar. Guðjón Valur Sigurðsson
Guðjón Valur Sigurðsson (born 8 August 1979) is an Icelandic retired handball player and current coach of VfL Gummersbach. A captain of the Iceland men's national handball team, Guðjón Valur broke the world record for most goals scored in international men's handball in 2018. He won silver with the Icelandic handball team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as bronze at the 2010 European Championship. He was included in the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame in 2023. Club career Guðjón started his handball career at a young age with Grótta on Seltjarnarnes. 2012 European Men's Handball Championship
The 2012 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the tenth edition of the men's continental handball tournament, which was held in Serbia between 15 and 29 January 2012. Sixteen teams qualified for the event, including host nation Serbia, defending champion France and fourteen national teams through the qualifying tournament. The teams were split into four groups of 4, with the top 3 teams of each group advancing to the main round, carrying the points won against other qualified opponents. The men's tournament of handball at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, began on October 16 and ended on October 24. All games were held at the San Rafael Gymnasium. 2011 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2011 World Men's Handball Championship, the 22nd event hosted by the International Handball Federation, was held in Sweden from 13 to 30 January 2011. All matches were played in Malmö, Lund, Kristianstad, Gothenburg, Skövde, Jönköping, Linköping and Norrköping.
