Hanauer Straße
Hanauer Straße in Munich is an arterial road about one and a half kilometers long extending from south to north in the Moosach (Munich), Moosach district. It was named after the Hesse city of Hanau. Geographical location Hanauer Straße branches from Dachauer Straße, opposite the Westfriedhof (Munich), Westfriedhof, as an extension of the Orpheusstraße to the north. It crosses the Georg-Brauchle-Ring after about 400 meters. After crossing this road, it connects to the Lassallestraße. Development Former development The area of the Moosach gasworks of ''Stadtwerke München'' extended between Hanauer Straße, Georg-Brauchle-Ring and the Borstei. Here, between 23 April 1909 and 20 March 1967, the Coal gas, town gas was generated through gasification of Bituminous coal, hard coal. 2016 Munich Shooting
On 22 July 2016, a mass shooting occurred in the vicinity of the Olympia shopping mall in the Moosach district of Munich, Germany. An 18-year-old Iranian-German, David Sonboly, opened fire on fellow teenagers at a McDonald's restaurant before shooting at bystanders in the street outside and then in the mall itself. Nine people were killed, and 36 others were injured, four of them by gunfire. Sonboly then hid nearby for more than two hours, and killed himself by a self-inflicted gunshot wound when confronted by police. Two reports by Bavaria's State Office of Criminal Investigation and another by the public prosecutor's office concluded the shooting was not political, saying Sonboly's main motive was "revenge" for bullying by others from immigrant backgrounds, and that mental illness, romantic rejection and obsession with other shooting rampages were also a factor.
