Hampden Football League
The Hampden Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league based in South-Western Victoria, with clubs located in towns along or near the Princes Highway from Camperdown to Portland. The league is a major country league. It comprises an amalgamation of the Hampden Football League with the women's netball league with the same teams and playing draw. History The ''Hampden Football League'' was formed in 1930, when the four founding clubs broke away from the Western District FL. Terang and Camperdown did not want to continue to travel to Hamilton because their players were farmers who could not spend all day away from the farm to play football, as they had cows to milk. Colac and Coragulac merged to form Colac-Coragulac in 1980. In 1986, they dropped Coragulac from the club's name, then in 2001 Colac left the Hampden league to join the Geelong FL. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an Australian rules football playing field, oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Hamilton Kangaroos Football Club
The Hamilton Kangaroos Football Netball Club is an Australian rules football and netball club which based in the city of Hamilton in south-western Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Hampden Football League. History The club was formed by merging the Hamilton Football Club and the Hamilton Imperials Football Club in October 2012. After almost 50 years as fierce rivals, the Magpies and Imperials opted to merge after the recommendation was made in the ''Southern Border Review''. The two clubs members decided on a vote for the new name. A popular idea was the Giants, but this was rejected through copyright issues. The options were Hamilton united Kangaroos, Hamilton United Power, Hamilton United Hawks, Hamilton Kangaroos, Hamilton Hawks and Hamilton Power. Port Fairy (historically known as Belfast) is a town in south-western Victoria, Australia. It lies on the Princes Highway in the Shire of Moyne, west of Warrnambool and west of Melbourne, at the point where the Moyne River enters the Southern Ocean. The Portland Football Netball Cricket Club, nicknamed the ''Tigers'', is an Australian sports club based in the city of Portland, Victoria. The club's football and netball teams currently compete in the Hampden Football Netball League, with the football squad having joined it in 2013 along with the Hamilton Kangaroos. Warrnambool District Football League is an Australian rules football competition based in the region of rural of Warrnambool. It is a ten team competition starting in April and finishing in September. The league was founded in 1946. History While the history of Warrnambool & District FL commenced in 1946 there were several other leagues that fulfilled the needs for senior age players before the WW2. When the Warrnambool DFA merged with the Corangamite FA in 1924 to form the Western District FL it created a void for young footballers who were not able to play for the major town teams. Bushfield is a town in Australia. The town is located north of Warrnambool, Victoria. It is joined with the nearby Woodford to make Woodford-Bushfield. At the 2016 census, the population was 571. The North Warrnambool Eagles Football Netball Club, nicknamed the ''Eagles'', is an Australian rules football and netball club based near the regional city of Warrnambool, Victoria. The club teams currently compete in the Hampden Football Netball League, where the football squad has played since 1997. History The club was formed in 1986 with the merger of Grassmere and Bushfield clubs.
