Haldor Børve
Haldor Larsen Børve (19 August 1857 – 11 August 1933) was an architect from Ullensvang Municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. Børve started an architectural practice in Porsgrunn (town), Porsgrunn in 1889 and designed numerous buildings in Telemark and Vestfold counties, many of them influenced by Dragestil and the Nordic National Romantic style. Among his best-known works are Dalen Hotel from 1894 and Porsgrunn City Hall from 1904/1905. Background Børve was born in Ullensvang in 1857 to farmer Lars Jørgensen Børve (1815–91) and Anna Haldorsdatter Eidnes (1822–1911). He attended Trondheim Technical Vocational School () from 1877 to 1880, after which he worked for a few years as a junior architect. Dalen Hotel
Dalen Hotel is a historic hotel located at Dalen, Telemark, Dalen in the municipality of Tokke in Telemark, Norway. The luxury Dalen Hotel, once a popular locale for European Royal family, royalty, is one of the largest wooden buildings in Norway and one of the best preserved hotels of its size from the 1800s. The hotel is located in eastern Dalen on the shores of Bandak lake. The hotel owners operate a ferry service along the Telemark Canal, which during the warmer seasons has daily trips between Skien and Dalen on the historic passenger ships MS Henrik Ibsen, MS ''Henrik Ibsen'' and MS ''Victoria''. The hotel can also be accessed by road on Norwegian county road, Fylkesvei 38 and 45, which extends down from European route E134, E134 to the north.
