Hadley is an unincorporated community in southern Reynolds County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is in the southeast corner of the county and approximately 4.5 mile west of Leepr in adjacent Wayne County. History A post office called Hadley was established in 1911, and remained in operation until 1951. The community most likely has the name of Herbert S. Reynolds County, Missouri
Reynolds County is a county located in the Ozark Foothills Region in the Lead Belt of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 6,096. Its county seat is Centerville. The county was officially organized on February 25, 1845, and was named in honor of former Governor of Missouri Thomas Reynolds. Leeper, Missouri
Leeper is an unincorporated community in southwestern Wayne County, Missouri, United States. It is located on the Black River, approximately five miles south of Piedmont at the intersection of Routes 34 and 49. History Leeper is named after William T. Leeper, who served as a Captain in the Union Army during the Civil War. In 1871, Leeper convinced the Iron Mountain Railroad to run through his property, although the route would require a cut through two mountains. By 1872, Clarkson Sawmill had moved to Leeper and set up a shop. This immediately caused the rise of Leeper as a "boom-town." Leeper was not actually a town until 1874, by William T. Leeper's son Sid. By 1881, Leeper was a ''bona fide'' town with a rail station and a post office, and was commonly called Leeper Station. Leeper had then one hotel and four stores. Wayne County is a county located in the Ozark foothills in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the population was 10,974. The county seat is Greenville. The county was officially organized on December 11, 1818, and is named after General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, who served in the American Revolution. As of August 28, 2023, Wayne County is designated the UFO Capital of Missouri, along with the city of Piedmont. History Wayne County was created in December 1818 by the last Missouri Territorial Legislature from portions of Cape Girardeau and Lawrence counties. Wayne County thus actually predates statehood.
