Alan Haber
Robert Alan Haber (born July 29, 1936) is an American activist. In 1960 he was elected the first president of the now-defunct Students for a Democratic Society, a left-wing student activist organization. FBI files at the time indicated his official title as Field Secretary. Described variously at the time as "Ann Arbor's resident radical" and "reticent visionary", Haber organized a human rights conference in April of that year which "marked the debut of SDS" and invited four organizers of the 1960 NAACP sit-ins against segregated lunch counters in Greensboro, North Carolina. Early life and education Haber "came from a leftist background". His father, William Haber, was an economics professor at the University of Michigan. Marcus Warren Haber (born January 11, 1989) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a striker for Thai League 1 club Nongbua Pitchaya, on loan from Chonburi. Haber began his career at local club Vancouver Selects, playing four years with the youth team. In 2006, he joined FC Groningen of the Dutch Eredivisie as a youth player, and spent two years with the club's under-19 team. Haber returned to Canada and signed for the Vancouver Whitecaps in February 2009. Yaacov Haber is a rabbi has taught Jews about Jewish heritage for almost thirty years. Biography Rabbi Haber was ordained in Jerusalem by Rabbi Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg of Yeshivah Torah Ore and by Chacham Avrohom Ochana of Yeshivah Ahavat Shalom. After his ordination in Israel, Rabbi Haber returned to his hometown of Buffalo, New York in 1979 with his family to found the Torah Center of Buffalo. Shamai Haber (born February 15, 1922, Łódź, Poland) was a sculptor who lived and worked in Paris, France. He died in 1995 in Paris. Biography Haber was born in Łódź, Poland in 1922 but emigrated in 1935. He first went to Luxembourg and then to Israel. While in Tel Aviv he attended the Academy of Fine Arts. He studied with Moshe Sternschuss. In 1949 he moved to Paris. He was a sculptor and from the 1960s he worked with massive stone and concrete blocks. His sculptures were often used in public parks and fountains. In 1965 he worked with Yitzhak Danziger to create a sculpture at entrance to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem which was the largest sculpture ever erected in Israel. In 1988 he created his best known work, the fountain 'Le Creuset du temps' in the Place de Catalogne in Paris near his studio. In 1959 he received the Prize for sculpture of Anton Bourdelle.
