HMS Paradise
''HMS Paradise'' is a British comedy television series which originally aired on ITV between 1964 and 1965.Wagg p.9 It is set at a Royal Navy station on an island off the Dorset coast where very little actual work takes place. The show bore strong similarities to ''The Navy Lark'', a popular radio series. All episodes are now considered to be lost. Howard Lang
Howard Lang (born Donald Yarranton; 20 March 1911 – 11 December 1989) was an English actor known for playing Captain William Baines in the BBC nautical drama '' The Onedin Line''. Early life Lang was born in Marylebone, London, the son of Edward John Yarranton (1884–1954) and Clara Ann (née Malkin) (1888–1921). His father had left the family's bookbinding business to become a senior commercial traveller for Winsor & Newton, the manufacturer of artists' materials. Lang served for seven years in the Royal Navy including during World War II. Robert Dorning (13 May 1913 – 21 February 1989) was a musician, dance band vocalist, ballet dancer and stage, film and television actor. He is known to have performed in at least 77 television and film productions between 1940 and 1988. Origins Robert Dorning was born at 108 Croppers Hill in St Helens, Lancashire, England, on 13 May 1913. Ernest Clark (12 February 1912 – 11 November 1994) was a British actor of stage, television and film. Early life Clark was the son of a master builder in Maida Vale, and was educated nearby at St Marylebone Grammar School. After leaving school he became a reporter on a local newspaper in Croydon.
