Gudmund Hoel
Gudmund Hoel (25 September 1877 – 7 September 1956) was a Norwegian architect. He is regarded as the second-most influential railway architect in Norway, after Paul Due. Biography He was born in Kragerø, Norway. Hoel graduated from Kristiania Tekniske Skole (today Oslo University College) in 1896. For six years he had various assistant jobs at architecture firms in Norway and Germany. From 1903-04, he conducted study trips to the United States. In 1904, he started working for Holger Sinding-Larsen, and in 1910 he established his own firm. In 1913, he was appointed director of the newly established NSB Arkitektkontor, an in-house division of the Norwegian State Railways Vygruppen, branded as Vy, is a government-owned railway company which operates most passenger train services and many bus services in Norway. Tønsberg Station
Tønsberg Station on the Vestfold Line, is the main railway station in the town of Tønsberg in Vestfold, Norway. The station is located in the downtown area, to the east of the hill Slottsfjellet. It is located at an altitude of above mean sea level, and is from Oslo Central Station. The current station is from 1915. History The first station at Knapløkken was a railway station built by the private Tønsberg–Eidsfoss Line. It received a station building of the smallest type used on the line, with only two rooms, and consisted further of a passing loop and an outhouse. The station had an extensive track arrangement with seven tracks and place for 203 freight cars. The station opened on 18 October 1901. During the planning of TEB there was discussion about changing the state railway's line through town and building a new station. Vygruppen, branded as Vy, is a government-owned railway company which operates most passenger train services and many bus services in Norway. The company is owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport. Its sub-brands include Vy Buss coach services, CargoNet freight trains and the Swedish train transport company Tågkompaniet. In 2009, NSB carried 52 million train passengers and 104 million bus passengers. On 24 April 2019, passenger train and bus services were rebranded as Vy. The company was established as the Norwegian State Railways (1883–1996). In 1996 the company was split into the new NSB, the infrastructure company, the Norwegian National Rail Administration and the Norwegian Railway Inspectorate. Gardermobanen
The Gardermoen Line ( no, Gardermobanen) is a high-speed railway line between Oslo and Eidsvoll, Norway, running past Lillestrøm and Oslo Airport, Gardermoen. The line is long and replaced the older Hoved Line as the main line north-east of Oslo. The older Hoved Line now handles commuter and freight traffic, while the Gardermoen Line handles high-speed passenger trains and freight trains laden with jet fuel for the airport. Both lines are owned by Bane NOR. The line was opened in 1998, at the same time as the airport that gave the line its name. It is used by the Flytoget airport express train service as well as express trains by Vy. It is the only high-speed railway in Norway, with a maximum permitted speed of . Arendalsbanen
The Arendal Line ( no, Arendalsbanen) is a long railway line between Arendal and Simonstad in Norway. At Nelaug, north of Arendal, the line intersects with the Sørland Line. The southern section is electrified and provides a feeder passenger service. The line originally ran north from Arendal to Treungen and the lake Nisser, but the upper-most part has been removed. The line is owned by the Norwegian Railway Directorate and operated by Go-Ahead Norge using Class 69 trains. Originally named the Arendal–Åmli Line, the first part of the line, from Arendal to Froland, opened on 23 November 1908. The line was extended to Åmli on 17 December 1910 and to Treungen on 14 December 1913, and was named the Arendal–Treungen Line. Kragerø Station
Kragerø Station ( no, Kragerø stasjon) was a railway station located in Kragerø, Norway on the Kragerø Line. History The station was opened on December 2, 1927 when the Sørlandet Line was opened to Kragerø from Lunde Station. In 1935 the line was made the branch Kragerø Line when the Sørlandet Line was extended to Arendal Station. Passenger traffic was terminated in 1988, and since the line has been abandoned and razed.
