Bogumil Goltz
Bogumil Goltz (20 March 180112 November 1870) was a German humorist and satirist known mostly for his work ''Buch der Kindheit'' ("Book of Childhood"). Biography He was born in Warsaw. After attending the classical schools of Marienwerder and Königsberg, he learned farming on an estate near Thorn, and in 1821 entered the University of Breslau as a student of philosophy. But he soon abandoned an academic career and, after returning for a while to country life, retired to the small town of Gollub, where he devoted himself to literary studies. In 1847 he settled at Thorn, the home of Copernicus, where he died. Endnote: *O. Roquette, ''Siebzig Jahre'', i. (1894). Boris Goltz
Boris Grigorevich Goltz (Russian: Борис Григорьевич Гольц; 16 December (OS) / 29 December 1913 – 3 March 1942), was a Soviet composer. He is remembered today mainly for his set of 24 Preludes, Op. 2, for piano. He was born in Tashkent, Russian Empire. He moved with his family to Leningrad in 1926. In 1933 entered the Leningrad Conservatory, initially as a piano student, working with Nikolayev. His harmony teacher, V. V. Pushkov, persuaded him to take up composing seriously, and he obtained a double degree in piano (graduated 1938) and composition (graduated 1940). Russian involvement in World War II commenced in 1941. Goltz volunteered for the Army, but was instead assigned to the Political Administration of the Baltic Fleet, to compose patriotic songs. Christel Goltz (8 July 1912 – 14 November 2008) was a German operatic soprano. One of the leading dramatic sopranos of her generation, she possessed a rich voice with a brilliant range and intensity. She was particularly associated with the operas of Richard Strauss, especially Salome and Elektra, and with contemporary operas. Born in Dortmund, she studied in Munich with Ornelli-Leeb and with Theodor Schenk, whom she later married. After singing small roles, she made her official debut in Fürth, as Agathe, in 1935. She sang one season in Plauen, before joining the roster of principal sopranos at the Staatsoper Dresden through the invitation of Karl Böhm in 1936. She remained at that house until 1950. David Allan Goltz (born June 23, 1949) is a former professional baseball player who pitched in the Major Leagues from 1972 to 1983. Biography Dave Goltz attended high school in Rothsay, Minnesota where he was a multi-sport star athlete. Goltz signed with the Twins organization out of high school for $20,000. He began his career with the Twins in the Gulf Coast Rookie League in 1967 and moved up to single-A St. Cloud in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a helicopter mechanic and his unit was called to active duty in 1969, postponing his baseball career. Hendrick Goltzius, or Hendrik, (; ; January or February 1558 – 1 January 1617) was a German-born Dutch printmaker, draftsman, and painter. He was the leading Dutch engraver of the early Baroque period, or Northern Mannerism, lauded for his sophisticated technique, technical mastership and "exuberance" of his compositions.
