Godfrey Fryar
Godfrey Charles Fryar was the eleventh Bishop of Rockhampton in the Anglican Church of Australia. Early life Fryar was educated at All Souls' Charters Towers. Religious life Fryar and ordained in 1973. He was a Bush Brother until 1976 after which he held incumbencies in Rockhampton, Mackay and Stafford, Queensland. From 1993 to 1998 he was Dean of St Saviour's Cathedral, Goulburn. On 13 December 1998, he was consecrated a bishop at St Saviour's Cathedral, Goulburn, to serve as Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn and installed as Rector of St John's Church Wagga Wagga. The Diocese of Rockhampton (also known as Anglican Church Central Queensland) is a diocese of the Anglican Church of Australia, founded in 1892. It is situated in the central part of the state of Queensland, Australia. It is part of the Province of Queensland. The cathedral church of the diocese is St Paul's Cathedral in Rockhampton. On 18 July 2020, Peter Grice, the Dean of Geraldton since 2015 and vicar-general of the Anglican Diocese of North West Australia, was elected as the 13th Bishop of Rockhampton. The Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn is one of the 23 dioceses of the Anglican Church of Australia. The diocese has 60 parishes covering most of south-east New South Wales, the eastern Riverina and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT). It stretches from Marulan in the north, from Batemans Bay to Eden on the south coast across to Holbrook in the south-west, north to Wagga Wagga, Temora, Young and Goulburn.
