picture info	Giovannino Guareschi Giovannino Oliviero Giuseppe Guareschi (; 1 May 1908 – 22 July 1968) was an Italian journalist, cartoonist and humorist whose best known creation is the priest Don Camillo. Life and career Giovannino Guareschi was born into a middle-class family in Fontanelle di Roccabianca, Province of Parma, in 1908. He always joked about the fact that he, a big man, was baptized Giovannino, a name meaning "little John" or "Johnny". In 1926 his family went bankrupt and he could not continue his studies at the University of Parma. After working at various minor jobs, he started to write for a local newspaper, the ''Gazzetta di Parma''. In 1929 he became editor of the satirical magazine ''Corriere Emiliano'', and from 1936 to 1943 he was the chief editor of a similar magazine called ''Bertoldo''. In 1943 he was drafted into the army, which apparently helped him to avoid trouble with the Italian Fascist authorities. He ended up as an artillery officer. 	Giovanni Lorenzo Lulier Giovanni Lorenzo Lulier, nicknamed Giovannino del Violone (''Little John of the Violone'') (c. 1662 – 29 March 1700) was a Baroque music, Baroque Italian composer, cellist and trombone player of Spanish descent. Life Lulier was born and died in Rome. He was a student of Pietro Simone Agostini, a composer and violin virtuoso in the service of Pietro Ottoboni. From 1676 to 1699 Lulier played regularly in the Roman church of San Luigi dei Francesi; on 13 October 1679 he entered the ''Congregazione di Santa Cecilia''. From 1681 he was active in the service of Benedetto Pamphili and from 1688 he played the trombone in the ''Musici del Campidoglio''. When Pamphili left Rome in 1690, Lulier again became the protégé of cardinal Ottoboni and remained so for the rest of his life. In the 1690s he also worked for the Borghese family, and probably played the cello in the orchestra in which another Pamphili protégé, Arcangelo Corelli, was principal violinist. He is also known as ''Giovannino del Pio'' or ''Giovanni Bonatti''. He initially trained as a pupil of Francesco Costanzo Cattaneo and Leonello Bononi. Under the patronage of cardinal Carlo Pio di Savoia, in 1658 he was sent to Bologna to train with Guercino. In 1662, he travels to Rome to work in the studio of Pier Francesco Mola. 	San Giovannino Dei Cavalieri San Giovannino dei Cavalieri (''Young St. John the Baptist of the Knights'') previously named Church of San Giovanni Decollato (Decapitated St. John), is a parish church situated in Via San Gallo in central Florence, Italy. Initially the site held a 14th-century home for women of "easy virtue" and dedicated to St. Mary Magdalen, it was renamed after the patron saint of the Cavalieri or Knights of Malta. Rebuilt from 1553-1784, with facade added in 1699.
