Johannes Gerhardus Strijdom
Johannes Gerhardus Strijdom (also spelled Strydom in accordance with Afrikaans spelling; 14 July 1893 – 24 August 1958), also known as Hans Strijdom and nicknamed the Lion of the North or the Lion of Waterberg, was the fifth prime minister of South Africa from 30 November 1954 to his death on 24 August 1958. He was an uncompromising Afrikaner nationalist and a member of the largest, ''baasskap'' (white supremacist) faction of the National Party (NP), who further accentuated the NP's apartheid policies and break with the Union of South Africa in favour of a republic during his rule. Gerhardus Petrus Christiaan De Kock
Dr. Gerhardus Petrus Christiaan de Kock better known as Gerhard de Kock (14 February 1926 – 7 August 1989) was the sixth Governor of the South African Reserve Bank. He was the son of Dr. M.H. de Kock, who was the third Governor of the South African Reserve Bank. South Africa's constitutional arrangements were changed during his term in office. The 1st Republic was superseded by the 2nd Republic in late 1984. Dr. de Kock was the first (and only) Governor of the South African Reserve Bank to die in office. His term was from 1 January 1981 until his death on 7 August 1989. He was succeeded by Dr. Chris Stals. Bernardus Gerhardus Fourie
Bernardus Gerhardus Fourie (or Brand Fourie) was a South African diplomat. He served as the South African ambassador to the United States from 1982 to 1985. Early life Fourie was born in 1916 in Wolmaransstad. Career Brand Fourie joined the department South African Department of Foreign Affairs in 1936. He served under six heads of state of South Africa, viz Jan Smuts, Dr DF Malan, JG Strijdom, Hendrik Verwoerd, John Vorster, and PW Botha. Fourie was an aide to South African Prime Minister Jan Smuts during World War II and attended some of his meetings with UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill. He attended the 1945 launch of the United Nations with Smuts. He was promoted to director-general of the Department of Foreign Affairs from 1966 until 1983. Gerhardus "Hardus" Pienaar (born 10 August 1981 in Rustenburg, North West) is a South African javelin thrower and former Junior World Champion from South Africa. His personal best throw is 84.50 metres, achieved in October 2003 in Hyderabad, India, Hyderabad. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest javelin throwers in South African history. Early life Although Pienaar was born in Rustenburg South Africa, he grew up in Middelburg Mpumalanga where he attended Kanonkop Primary and Kanonkop High School.
