George Beresford, 1st Marquess Of Waterford
George de la Poer Beresford, 1st Marquess of Waterford, KP, PC (Ire) (8 January 1735 – 3 December 1800) was an Irish politician, known as George Beresford, 2nd Earl of Tyrone from 1763 to 1789. Beresford was the eldest son of Marcus Beresford, 1st Earl of Tyrone and his wife, Katherine, Baroness de la Poer. George Beresford (bishop)
The Rt. Rev. George de la Poer Beresford (19 July 1765 – 16 October 1841) was an Irish bishop. A member of the Beresford family headed by the Marquess of Waterford, Beresford was the son of the Hon. John Beresford, younger son of Marcus Beresford, 1st Earl of Tyrone. Marcus Beresford and John Claudius Beresford were his brothers. Beresford was Dean of Kilmore from 1797 to 1801, Bishop of Clonfert and Kilmacduagh between 1801 and 1802 and Bishop of Kilmore between 1802 and 1839. The latter year the Kilmore and Ardagh sees were united, and Beresford served as Bishop for the new see until his death two years later. Beresford married Frances, daughter of Gervase Parker Bushe, daughter of Gervase Parker Bushe and Mary Grattan (sister of Henry Grattan), in 1794. They had several children, including Marcus Beresford, Archbishop of Armagh. Beresford died in October 1841, aged 76. His wife survived him by two years and died in May 1843. Lord George Beresford
Lord George Thomas Beresford GCH, PC (12 February 1781 – 26 October 1839) was an Anglo-Irish soldier, courtier and Tory politician. He served as Comptroller of the Household from 1812 to 1830. Background Beresford was the fourth son of George Beresford, 1st Marquess of Waterford, by his wife Elizabeth Monck, daughter of Henry Monck. Henry Beresford, 2nd Marquess of Waterford and Lord John Beresford were his elder brothers and Lord Beresford and Sir John Beresford his half-brothers. Military career Beresford was appointed a cornet in the 13th Light Dragoons in April 1794, a lieutenant in the 111th Regiment of Foot in July 1794 and a captain in the 124th Regiment of Foot on 24 September 1794, from which he exchanged into the 88th Regiment of Foot on 29 July 1796. Sir George De La Poer Beresford, 2nd Baronet
Sir George de la Poer Beresford, 2nd Baronet (1 March 1811 – 11 February 1873) was an Irish Conservative politician, peer, and army officer. Son of Sir John Beresford, 1st Baronet and Mary née Molly. In 1846 he married Elizabeth Lucas, daughter of Davis Lucas. He had at least four children, including: Mary Beresford (died 1847); Marcia Mary Ann Harriet Wilhelmina de la Poer Beresford (died 1908); John Edward Francis de la Poer Beresford (1851–1854); and William Carr de la Poer Beresford (1858–188). He was elected Conservative MP for at the 1841 general election but was unseated just under a year later. At the ensuing by-election, he stood again but was unsuccessful. He succeeded to the Baronetcy of Bagnall in 1844 upon the death of his father. Upon his own death in 1873, the title was inherited by Henry Monson de la Poer Beresford-Peirse. George Beresford (Armagh MP)
George de la Poer Beresford (22 April 1831 – 3 August 1906) was an Anglo-Irish Conservative politician. Beresford was the son of the Most Reverend Marcus Beresford, Archbishop of Armagh, son of the Right Reverend George Beresford, Bishop of Kilmore and Ardagh, son of John Beresford, younger son of Marcus Beresford, 1st Earl of Tyrone. His mother was Mary, daughter of Henry Peisley L'Estrange. He was appointed High Sheriff of Cavan for 1865. He was elected to the House of Commons for Armagh City in an 1875 by-election, a seat he held until 1885, when the constituency was abolished. In 1887, he was appointed High Sheriff of Armagh. Beresford married Mary Annabella, daughter of Reverend William Vernon Harcourt and sister of Sir William Vernon Harcourt, in 1860. He died in August 1906, aged 75.
