George Brockwell Gill
George Brockwell Gill (1857–1954) was an architect in Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. Many of the buildings he designed are heritage-listed. Early life George Brockwell Gill was born in 1857 in the Lambert district of Surrey, England. Architectural career Gill emigrated from London and settled in Ipswich in 1886 where he commenced work as an architect for the firm of Samuel Shenton. Gill took over Shenton's practice in 1889 when Shenton retired. Gill had been elected Associate of the Queensland Institute of Architects in 1904 and Fellow by 1913. He was its Vice-President in 1914-16 and President in 1918-19. Marburg Community Centre And First World War Memorial
Marburg Community Centre and First World War Memorial is a heritage-listed former bank and community centre at 71 Edmond Street, Marburg, City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. The bank building was designed by George Brockwell Gill and built in 1912 by Hastie and Halliwell. The war memorial was added in 1919. It is also known as National Bank of Australasia and Queensland National Bank. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History This single-storeyed timber building was erected in 1912 for the Queensland National Bank, as their Marburg branch premises. Woodlands is a heritage-listed mansion at Seminary Road, Marburg, City of Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by George Brockwell Gill and built from 1889 to 1940s.
