Gazzaniga (Bergamasque: or ) is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Bergamo in the Italy, Italian region of Lombardy, located about northeast of Milan and northeast of Bergamo. Gazzaniga borders the following municipalities: Albino, Italy, Albino, Aviatico, Cene, Lombardy, Cene, Cornalba, Costa di Serina, Fiorano al Serio, Vertova. History Traces of human presence in the Bronze Age have been found in Gazzaniga. The first document attesting the existence of a burgh (castle) dates from 476 AD, when the Barbarian king Odoacer ransacked it. In the Middle Ages Gazzaniga was part of the Confederazione de Honio together with neighbouring communes; in 1397 Gazzaniga was destroyed by the Ghibellines, and again by the Guelphs in the next year. Albino, Italy
Albino (Bergamasque: ) is a ''comune'' in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy, northern Italy. It is located northeast of Bergamo and is situated in the valley of the river Serio (''Val Seriana''). The comune is included in the perimeter of the Alpine Convention international treaty. History Archaeological findings have showed that the area was already settled in the Copper Age. In Roman times there were settlements in the area (probably of Gaulish origin), though the first document mentioning a ''in vico Albines'' dates from 892 AD. Odoacer
Odoacer ( ; – 15 March 493 AD), also spelled Odovacer or Odovacar, was a soldier and statesman of barbarian background, who deposed the child emperor Romulus Augustulus and became Rex/Dux (476–493). Odoacer's overthrow of Romulus Augustulus is traditionally seen as marking the end of the Western Roman Empire as well as Ancient Rome. Though the real power in Italy was in his hands, he represented himself as the client of the emperor in Constantinople, Zeno. Odoacer often used the Roman honorific patrician, granted by Zeno, but was referred to as a king ( la, rex) or duke ( la, dux) in many documents, so is not clear which was his actual charge.
