Güzel İstanbul
''Güzel İstanbul'' (''Beautiful Istanbul'') is a concrete public sculpture of a nude female figure by Gürdal Duyar that is located in Yıldız Park in Istanbul, Turkey. The sculpture was commissioned in 1973 as one of 20 sculptures installed in Istanbul as part of an initiative by the Istanbul Municipality to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. ''Güzel İstanbul'' represents Istanbul as a nude female figure; its plinth was adorned with figurative motifs referencing the history of Istanbul. ''Güzel İstanbul'' was originally located at Karaköy Square. Several Turkish media outlets and traditional conservative politicians considered the sculpture obscene and called for its swift removal. Dr. Guzel Maitdinova (Maytdinova) (born 5 September 1952) is a Eurasian Geopolitics, geopolitician, Ethnology, ethnologist, historian and Archaeology, archeologist based in Tajikistan. Guzel Khubbieva (born 2 May 1976) is an Uzbekistani sprinter who specializes in the 100 and 200 metres. Khubbieva represented Uzbekistan at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing competing at the 100 metres sprint. In her first round heat she placed third behind Muna Lee and Anita Pistone in a time of 11.44 to advance to the second round. There she failed to qualify for the semi-finals as her time of 11.49 was only the seventh time of her heat, causing elimination. She won the silver medal at the 2010 Asian Games. Guzel Shamilyevna Yakhina (, , born 1 June 1977) is a Russian author and screenwriter. She is a winner of the Big Book literary prize and the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Award. Ecem Güzel (born 23 February 1995) is a Turkish sailor who specializes in the Laser Radial class. She is a member of the Galatasaray Sailing team. Güzel competed at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games for Turkey. Sports career Güzel became interested in sailing at age 10 during a summer vacation in Bodrum, on the Turkish Riviera. She attended a sailing course; her mother had to obtain a loan to cover Güzel's training expenses. She learned that the Optimist dinghy is a type designed for young people and started sailing in that class because of her young age. She gained experience at the Era Yachting Bodrum club.
