Güstrow Speedway Stadium
The Güstrow Speedway Stadium () is an 8,000-capacity speedway stadium in Güstrow, Germany. The stadium is located on the eastern outskirts of the town, just off the Plauer Chaussee 4. The speedway track has a circumference of 298 metres and is home to the speedway team MC Güstrow. History In 1963, Fritz Suhrbier was attributed as to creating the stadium from an old sand and waste area. He constructed a motocross course with a speedway track inside the motocross course. Diethelm Triemer, an East German international rider, officiated at the first race on 20 October 1963. in 1970, the stadium hosted a Continental Semi final of the 1970 Speedway World Team Cup. Being in East Germany the stadium suffered from political isolation because of the Iron Curtain but many years later in 2008, it was selected to host the semi final of the Team Speedway Junior European Championship. Güstrow (; ) is a town in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in north-eastern Germany. It is capital of the Rostock (district), Rostock district; Rostock itself is a district-free city and regiopolis. Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four clockwise, anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of soil, dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand). East Germany National Speedway Team
The East Germany national speedway team were one of the teams that competed in international team motorcycle speedway. History The East German speedway team competed in the second edition of the Speedway World Team Cup in 1961, finishing fourth in the East European Round. This was one year after the West German team, who competed at the inaugural Speedway World Team Cup in 1960. East Germany would contest the every World Cup until 1972 but as one of the smaller speedway nations failed to progress to the later rounds. In 1969, East Germany reached the final of the Speedway World Pairs Championship. Team Speedway Junior European Championship
The European Under-23 Team Speedway Championship, formerly known as the ''Team Speedway Junior European Championship'' is an annual motorcycle speedway event. Inaugurated as a European Under-19 competition, the competition age limits have twice been amended. Since 2021, the event has been staged as the European Under-23 Team Championship. The inaugural 2008 edition was staged at the Florian Kapała Stadium in Rawicz, Poland, and won by the Sweden national under-19 speedway team, Swedish team. The next two editions were won by the Poland national under-19 speedway team. The event is organised by FIM Europe, formerly known as the Union Européenne de Motocyclisme, European Motorcycle Union (UEM) from 2008 until December 2012. Piotr Protasiewicz
Piotr Protasiewicz (born 25 January 1975 in Zielona Góra, Poland) is a Polish international speedway rider. He is a four times World team champion and earned 24 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Protasiewicz began his career riding for Falubaz Zielona Góra in 1991 where he would spend four seasons. He began to record some notable performances including reaching the finals of three Speedway Under-21 World Championship in 1993, 1995 and 1996. In the 1996 final he scored a perfect 15 point maximum to be crowned the World U21 champion. He rode for the Polish national team in the 1996 Speedway World Cup and in October 1997, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 1998 Grand Prix. The Individual Speedway European Championship is an annual individual speedway event organized by the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) to determine the champion of Europe. The competition was founded in 2001 and was initially staged as a one-off meeting before the single event was replaced by the Speedway European Championship series in 2012.
