Gündüz Aktan
Gündüz Aktan (1941–2008) was a Turkish diplomat and politician. He held various diplomatic posts, including ambassador of Turkey to Greece and ambassador of Turkey to Japan. After leaving diplomatic post he joined the Nationalist Movement Party and was elected to the Turkish Parliament in 2007. He served as a deputy for one year until his death in November 2008. Early life and education Aktan was born in Safranbolu on 7 August 1941. His father, Bekir Suphi Aktan, was a governor. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University in 1962. Career Following his graduation Aktan worked at the Ministry of Interior. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1967. He was the permanent representative of Turkey at OECD in Paris between 1970 and 1973. He was the ambassador of Turkey to Kenya from 1973 to 1975. Asım Can Gündüz
Asım Can Gündüz (August 15, 1955 – June 24, 2016) was a Turkish rock and blues guitarist. He was also known as ''Awesome John'', especially outside Turkey, partly because his name is pronounced very much like Awesome (''Asım'') John (''Can''). Career Gündüz lived in New York City until the early 1980s as ''John Gundez''. There, he formed "Zacharia", a three-piece rock band playing his original material consisted of guitarist Harry Zaverdas who played bass, and various drummers during its existence. Şinasi Gündüz (born 1960, Hekimhan) is a Turkish historian of religion and professor at Istanbul University. His interests include Gnosticism, Mandaeism, Christianity, comparative religious studies, and interreligious relationships. Early life and education Şinasi Gündüz was born in Hekimhan, Malatya Province, Turkey in 1960. He completed his primary and secondary education in Gaziantep and Mardin and graduated from Ankara University's Faculty of Theology in 1984. Seyhan Gündüz (born September 15, 1980) is a Turkish former women's footballer who plays as a forward. She last played in the Turkish Women's First Football League for Zeytinburnuspor in Istanbul. Ömer Mert Gündüz (born 24 April 2001) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Turkish club Fethiyespor. Career Feyenoord From Maassluis, in South Holland, in 2012 he made the switch from Excelsior Maassluis to join the football academy at Feyenoord. He moved through the age group teams and signed his first professional contract with Feyenoord in June 2020. Shortly afterward he suffered a severe knee injury that curtailed his season very early. Gunduz Caginalp (died December 7th, 2021) was a Turkish-born American mathematician whose research has also contributed over 100 papers to physics, materials science and economics/finance journals, including two with Michael Fisher and nine with Nobel Laureate Vernon Smith. He began his studies at Cornell University in 1970 and received an AB in 1973 "Cum Laude with Honors in All Subjects" and Phi Beta Kappa. In 1976 he received a master's degree, and in 1978 a PhD, both also at Cornell. He held positions at The Rockefeller University, Carnegie-Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh (since 1984), where he was a professor of Mathematics until his death on December 7, 2021. Aka Gündüz (1886 – 7 November 1958) was a Turkish poet, composer and politician. He is most notable for having composed the Ankara Marşı (Ankara March). Early life and education Aka Gündüz was born as the son of the Major of the Ottoman Military Kadri Bey from Rize as Hüseyin Enis Avni, but during his life he was known with a variety of pen names such as Hüseyin Enis Avni, Ali Kemal, Enis Avni, Enis Saffet or Seniha Hikmet amongst others. Several years of his childhood he lived in the Balkans due to his fathers military duties. He attended primary school in Serres (in present day Greece) and Selanik (present day Thessaloniki).
