Göteborg Film Festival
Göteborg Film Festival (GFF), formerly Göteborg International Film Festival (GIFF), known in English as the Gothenburg Film Festival, formerly Gothenburg International Film Festival, is an annual film festival in Gothenburg, Sweden and the largest film event in Scandinavia. When it was launched on February 8, 1979, it showed 17 films on 3 screens and had 3,000 visitors. Today, the film festival takes place over 10 days each year at the end of January and beginning of February. In recent years an estimated 450 films from 60 countries annually have been screened for 115,000 visitors. The film festival is an important market place for contractors in the movie industry. Richard Hobert
Richard Hobert (born 1 December 1951, in Kalmar) is a Swedish scriptwriter and film director. Career Hobert studied political science, languages and film and theatre at the Lund University from 1970 to 1973. He debuted as a radio playwright in 1974. Hobert worked as a writer and assistant director up to his debut as a director in 1978. During the eighties, he wrote and directed several TV-films, among them the internationally awarded ''The Twelve Months of Summer'', ''Age Unknown'' and ''The Fifteenth Chieftain''. His debut on the big screen in 1993, ''Spring of Joy'', was the first film in a cycle of seven, called "The Seven Deadly Sins". Aku Louhimies (2009) Aku Urban Louhimies (born 3 July 1968) is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. He has directed feature films, documentary films, commercials and music videos. ''Frozen Land'' () is a 2005 Finnish drama film directed and written by Aku Louhimies starring Jasper Pääkkönen, Mikko Leppilampi and Pamela Tola. Baron Carl Johan Louis De Geer af Finspång (born 13 July 1938) is a Swedish artist, writer, musician and '' friherre'' (baron) of the De Geer noble family. De Geer was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He grew up in a castle in Skåne, in southern Sweden. He broke with his bourgeois background and became a leftist artist, and studied at Konstfack, University College of Art, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Dagur Kári (born Dagur Kári Pétursson; 12 December 1973) is an Icelandic film director. Early life He was born in Paris, France, to Icelandic parents. The family returned to Iceland when he was 3 years old. After attending local schools as a child, Kári went to Denmark for college. The film explores the life of teenage outsider Nói (played by Tómas Lemarquis) in a remote fishing village in western Iceland. It won multiple awards. Stefan Jarl (born 18 March 1941) is a Swedish film director best known for his documentaries. Together with Jan Lindqvist he made the ''Mods Trilogy'', three films which follow a group of alienated people in Stockholm from the 1960s to the 1990s, '' They Call Us Misfits'' (1968), '' A Respectable Life'' (1979) and ''The Social Heritage'' (1993).
