Gómez Palacio is a municipality in the Mexican state of Durango. The municipal seat lies at Gómez Palacio. The municipality covers an area of 990.2 km². In 2010, the municipality had a total population of 327,985, up from 304,515 in 2005. In 2010, the city of Gómez Palacio had a population of 257,352. A villa is a type of house that was originally an ancient Roman upper class country house that provided an escape from urban life.
