Génesis Valentín
Génesis Valentín Suárez (born 20 March 1998) is a Puerto Rican badminton player. In 2013, she became the runner-up at the Carebaco International tournament in the women's doubles event. In 2014, she competed at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico. She also became the runner-up at the Puerto Rico International tournament in the women's singles event. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racket (sports equipment), racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net (device), net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a Yard (land), yard or on a beach; professional games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the other team's half of the court, within the set boundaries. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or ground, or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. Badminton World Federation
The Badminton World Federation, aka BWF, is the international governing body for the sport of badminton approved by the International Olympic Committee. It was founded on 5 July 1934 as the International Badminton Federation with nine member nations: Canada, Denmark, England, France, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales. In 1981, the IBF merged with the World Badminton Federation, and on 24 September 2006, at the Extraordinary General Meeting in Madrid, the name of the organization was changed to Badminton World Federation. When the BWF was founded, its head office was located in Cheltenham, UK. It was then relocated to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 1, 2005. Carebaco International
The Carebaco International is an international badminton tournament of the "Caribbean Regional Badminton Confederation" (Carebaco). Until 1999 the tournament was a closed event eligible only for Carebaco members, but to gain BWF World Ranking points since 1999 the Carebaco International tournament became a level 4 open individual event, now part of the BWF Future Series. The tournament established since 1972, when four countries in the Caribbean Region with the fanatical badminton enthusiasts started an annual competition among themselves. These countries were Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname and Guyana. Daigenis Mercedes Saturria (born 2 August 1990) is a Dominican Republic badminton player. In 2013, she won the Carebaco International tournament in the women's doubles event partnered with Berónica Vibieca. In 2015, she also won the Carebaco International tournament in the women's and mixed doubles event and became the runner-up in the women's singles event.
