Gábor Péter
Gábor Péter (born Benjámin Eisenberger; 14 May 1906 in Újfehértó – 23 January 1993 in Budapest) was a Hungarian Communism, communist politician. Between 1945 and 1952 he was chief of the State Protection Authority (''Államvédelmi Hatóság'', ÁVH), and as such responsible for much brutality and many political purges. Early life Péter was born Benjamin Eisenberger to Péter Eisenberger, a Jewish tailor, and Róza Meczner, in Újfehértó, Hungary. Originally employed as a tailor, he took part in the labour movement from the early 1920s, and joined the Hungarian Communist Party in 1931. During the 1930s, Péter was active in the Hungarian section of the International Red Aid and as a trade union organizer. László Piros
László Piros (10 May 1917 – 13 January 2006) was a Hungarian communist politician and military officer, who served as Interior Minister between 1954 and 1956. Career Piros was born in to an impoverished peasant family. He fought in the Second World War, but he was captured by the Soviets at Voronezh (January 1943). After that he took part in the antifascist movements. Piros worked as a partisan during the end of the war. He was a member of the Provisional National Assembly. From 1950 to 1953 he served as the commander of the Border Guard of Hungary. Following the arrest of Gábor Péter, Piros led State Protection Authority (ÁVH) from 1953. As Interior Minister he reexamined the previous years' show trials. During the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 he left the country along with Ernő Gerő and András Hegedüs for the Soviet Union on 28 October, but returned to the country on 3 November. Order Of The White Lion
The Order of the White Lion () is the highest order of the Czech Republic. It continues a Czechoslovak order of the same name created in 1922 as an award for foreigners (Czechoslovakia having no civilian decoration for its citizens in the 1920s and 1930s). It was inspired by the Czech Nobility Cross created in 1814 by the Emperor and King Francis II and awarded to 37 Bohemian noblemen. 1922–1961 The order was created as an award for merit by Czechoslovakia for foreign citizens. Hungarian Order Of Merit
The Hungarian Order of Merit () is the fourth highest State Order of Hungary. Founded in 1991, the order is a revival of an original order founded in 1946 and abolished in 1949. Its origins, however, can be traced to the Order of Merit of the Kingdom of Hungary which existed from 1922 until 1946. In 2011 its official name changed from Order of Merit of the Republic of Hungary to Hungarian Order of Merit in accordance with the new Hungarian Constitution. It is awarded in either civilian or military divisions. Since 2011, the Hungarian Order of Saint Stephen is the highest State honour of Hungary. Grades The civil division is divided into six grades, whilst the military division is divided into five.
