Gyöngyi Likerecz
Gyöngyi Likerecz (born 28 May 1983, Oroszlány, Komárom-Esztergom) is a retired female weightlifter from Hungary. She twice competed for her native country at the Summer Olympics (2000 and 2004) in the women's heavyweight division (– 75 kg). Oroszlány
Oroszlány () is a city in Hungary, Komárom-Esztergom county, Central Transdanubia region, located on the north-west flanks of the Vértes Mountains. The city has a population of 20.487. The main tourist attraction of the town is the 18th-century Camaldolese monastery of Majk. Etymology The town derives its name from Hungarian version of Turkic word lion "Arslan" () on the coat of arms of the Csák (family), Csák family that founded it. History There was a settlement in Környe near the town already during the Roman era (Quirinum), but there are also traces from even earlier from the Pannonian Avars, Avar people whose presence is attested by the cemetery remains found in 1957 and 1973. Weightlifters At The 2004 Summer Olympics
Weightlifting (often known as Olympic weightlifting) is a competitive strength sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with the aim of successfully lifting the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead. The '' snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The ''clean and jerk'' is a combination lift, in which the weight is first taken from the ground to the front of the shoulders (the ''clean''), and then from the shoulders to over the head (the ''jerk''). The sport formerly included a third lift/event known as clean and press. Each weightlifter gets three attempts at both the snatch and the clean and jerk, with the snatch attempted first. Katalin Kovács (born 29 February 1976) is a Hungarian canoe sprinter. She competed in the 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics and won eight medals, with three golds (K-2 500 m: 2004, 2008, K-4 500 m: 2012) and five silvers (K-2 500 m: 2000, 2012, K-4 500 m: 2000, 2004, 2008). Ágnes Kovács
Ágnes Kovács (born 13 July 1981) is a Hungarian swimmer who competed at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympics. In 2000, she won the 200 m breaststroke and set the Hungary records in the 100 m and 200 m breaststrokes events (1:07.79 and 2:24.03). As of 2014, these records still stand. She won a bronze medal in the 200 m breaststroke at the 1996 Olympics and placed fifth in 2004; in 2004 she also finished fourth in the 200 m individual medley event. Kovács learned to swim aged two and a half years and started to train seriously at nine. Aged fourteen, she became a European Junior champion in the 100 yard breaststroke, and next year won an Olympic medal. From 1995 through 2007 she won 17 medals at European championships and 53 Hungarian titles. She was named Hungarian Sportswoman of the Year in four consecutive years, from 1997 to 2000.
