Guskō Budori No Denki
(also known as ''A Biography of Gusuko Budori'' and ''The Legend of Budori Gusuko'') is a 2012 Japanese animated film written for the screen and directed by Gisaburō Sugii. It is based on the 1932 children's novel of the same name by Kenji Miyazawa. It stars the voices of Shun Oguri as Budori Gusuko with Shioli Kutsuna, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Hayashiya Shōzō, Ryūzō Hayashi, Tamiyo Kusakari and Akira Emoto. Like '' Night on the Galactic Railroad'' before it, the characters are depicted as anthropomorphic cats based on Hiroshi Masumura's manga adaptation of the novel. It is the second animated film adaptation of the story. The previous adaptation was released in 1994 as ''Kyōdō Eiga Zenkoku Keiretsu Kaigi'', but that one features human characters instead. Gisaburō Sugii
is a Japanese anime director and Nihonga artist. He is best known for his work as director of the '' Touch'' series, the movie adaptation of the '' Arashi no Yoru ni'' children's book series, and the movie '' Night on the Galactic Railroad''. He is a member of the Directors Guild of Japan and the Japanese Animation Creators Association. Career Sugii decided to become an animator after watching the film ''Bambi''. He joined Toei Animation at the age of 19 after taking an entrance exam in 1958. He worked as an in-betweener on ''Hakujaden'', ''Legend of the White Serpent'' soon after joining the studio. Hiroshi Masumura
is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known for his adaptations of Kenji Miyazawa's children novels, including his work on the anime film ''Night on the Galactic Railroad'' (1985), and for several manga series set in the fantasy universe '' Atagoul''. Several of his manga feature anthropomorphic cats as protagonists. The Japan Media Arts Festival was an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. Based on judging by a jury of artistic peers, awards are given in four categories: Art (formerly called Non-Interactive Digital Art), Entertainment (formerly called Interactive Art; including video games and websites), animation, and manga.
