Gunnar Örn Örlygsson
Gunnar Örn Örlygsson (born 4 August 1971) is a former Icelandic politician and former basketball player. He was a member of Alþingi from 2003 to 2007. Political career Gunnar was a member of Alþingi for the Liberal Party from 2003 until he split from the party in 2005 and joined the Independence Party for whom he served as a parliamentarian until 2007. Basketball career Gunnar played 11 seasons in the Icelandic top-tier Úrvalsdeild karla, averaging 6.1 points per game. He was the chairman of Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur basketball department from 2014 to December 2016. In 1991, he won the three-point shooting contest at the Icelandic All-Star game. Keflavík
Keflavík (pronounced , meaning ''Driftwood Bay'') is a town in the Reykjanes region in southwest Iceland. It is included in the municipality of Reykjanesbær whose population as of 2016 is 15,129. Ungmennafélag Njarðvíkur (, ) is an Icelandic multi-sports club based in Njarðvík, Reykjanesbær, on the south-west peninsula of Iceland. It is primarily known for its men's basketball team which has won the national championship 17 times. Its women's basketball team won the national championship and the basketball cup in 2012. The club also fields departments in football, swimming, power lifting, judo and triathlon. Colours The original uniform colours of the club were blue and white. Margrét Kara Sturludóttir (born 2 September 1989) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. She won the Icelandic championship in 2008 and 2010 and was named the Úrvalsdeild Domestic Player of the Year in 2011. Örlygur Aron Sturluson (21 May 1981 – 16 January 2000) was an Icelandic basketball player, who played for Njarðvík in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild where he won the national championship in 1998. He started playing for the Icelandic national team in 1999 and was considered one of the most promising prospects in Icelandic basketball at the time of his death. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið.
