Guillermo Álvarez (baseball)
Guillermo Álvarez (14 August 1926 – 8 April 2007), nicknamed Huevito, was a Mexican professional baseball shortstop and manager. He is considered the best shortstop to ever play for El Águila de Veracruz, where he spent most of his Mexican League (LMB) career, and one of the best Mexican shortstops of all time. Career Álvarez debuted in the Mexican League at the age of 19 with the Pericos de Puebla during the 1946 season, in a May 23 game against the Azules de Veracruz; he made several sensational plays that game, including the final out. Álvarez finished the year hitting .306, winning rookie of the year honors. He played most of his career (1949–1957) with Águila de Veracruz, where he won a championship in 1952. Sultanes De Monterrey
The Sultanes de Monterrey (English: Monterrey Sultans) are a professional baseball club in the Mexican League (LMB) based in Monterrey, Mexico. Established in 1939 as Carta Blanca, the Sultanes have won ten LMB titles, most recently in 2018. From 2019 to 2025, the club also fielded a team in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP), which plays a Winter league baseball, winter league schedule; they were the easternmost team to participate in the LMP. The Salón de la Fama del Beisbol Mexicano (in English, Mexican Professional Baseball Hall of Fame), commonly called the Salón de la Fama (Hall of Fame) is a baseball hall of fame and museum located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, inaugurated on 10 March 1973. It is dedicated to recognizing people who have contributed greatly to baseball in Mexico. It had its first five inductees in 1939. The Mexican Pacific League (, or LMP), also known as the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico for sponsorship reasons, is a professional baseball Winter league baseball, winter league based in Northwestern Mexico. The league comprises 10 teams. It was founded in 1945. The league's champion takes part in the Caribbean Series each year. The sixty eight-game regular season is split in two halves. After each half, the teams are awarded points. The first place team earns ten points, while the last place team earns three and a half points.
