Britta Gröndahl
Britta Gröndahl (; 1914–2002) was a Swedish writer, journalist, translator, and anarcho-syndicalist activist. Biography Britta Maartman was born on 8 March 1914, in Eskilstuna. She was the daughter of Hans Maartman, a right-wing councillor for the Eskilstuna Municipality, and Dagmar Tideman. Despite their social status, the family found it difficult to sustain a middle class lifestyle, which made Britta familiar with class stratification from an early age. She graduated from secondary school in 1931, and soon after she met and married the musician Gustav Gröndahl. They moved to Stockholm, where Britta began learning languages at the university; despite being inclined towards political science, the subject was considered inappropriate for women at that time. During the 1940s, she gave birth to three daughters (Birgitta, Ulla and Anna) and lived the life of a housewife, while also working a job and continuing her linguistics studies. Jens Christian Grøndahl (born 9 November 1959 in Lyngby) is a Danish writer. His novel ''An Altered Light'' was shortlisted for the 2006 International Dublin Literary Award. In 1998 he won the Danish booksellers award De Gyldne Laurbær (The Golden Laurel) for his novel ''Lucca''. Kelpo Olavi Gröndahl (28 March 1920 – 2 August 1994) was a light-heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Finland. He competed at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics and won a silver and a gold medal, respectively. He won another silver medal at the 1953 World Championships and finished fifth at the 1947 European Championships. Domestically he won 15 national titles, 11 in Greco-Roman (1943, 1946–1955) and 4 in freestyle wrestling (1948–1950, 1952). Gröndahl retired from competitions after failing to qualify for the 1956 Olympics. Between 1953 and 1980 he worked as the harbormaster of the Port of Pori. Launy Grøndahl (30 June 1886 – 21 January 1960) was a Danish conductor and composer. Grøndahl studied the violin from the age of eight. His first work as a professional musician was as a violinist with the Orchestra of the Casino Theatre in Copenhagen, aged thirteen. He was also for a long period (1925–1956) the resident conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra. Launy Valdemar Grondahl is known to posterity for two things: his distinguished 31–year conducting career with the Danish National Radio Symphony Orquestra, and his Trombone Concerto (Grøndahl), Trombone Concerto dating from 1924. Tobias Schjølberg Grøndahl (born 22 January 2001) is a Norwegian handball player for GOG Håndbold and the Norwegian national team. Grøndahl is renowned for his tactical understanding, and despite his young age he is often seen taking care of time-outs in GOG Håndbold instead of the head coach. He participated at the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship. Career Grøndahl started playing handball at Haslum HK, where his father was a youth coach.
