Grzegorz Antoni Ogiński
Grzegorz Antoni Ogiński (Lithuanian language, Lithuanian: Grigalius Antanas Oginskis; 23 June 1654 – 17 October 1709) was the Elder of Samogitia (1698–1709), Field Hetman of Lithuania (1703–1709) and Grand Hetman of Lithuania in 1709. He was the fourth and youngest son of Jan Jacek Ogiński, a Field Hetman of Lithuania. Ogiński was one of the leaders of the uprising against the Sapieha family, Sapieha Lithuanian magnates. He was successful in the Lithuanian Civil War (1697–1702), Lithuanian Civil War which culminated in the Battle of Valkininkai (1700), Battle of Valkininkai on 18 November 1700. After the battle, Michał Franciszek Sapieha the main leader of the Sapieha faction, as well as many other members of the family and its supporters, were murdered by a drunken mob of szlachta. Kazimierz Marcjan Ogiński
Kazimierz (; ; ) is a historical district of Kraków and Kraków Old Town, Poland. From its inception in the 14th century to the early 19th century, Kazimierz was an independent city, a royal city of the Crown of the Polish Kingdom, located south of the Old Town of Kraków, separated from it by a branch of the Vistula river. For many centuries, Kazimierz was a place where ethnic Polish and Jewish cultures coexisted and intermingled. The northeastern part of the district was historically Jewish. In 1941, the Jews of Kraków were forcibly relocated by the German occupying forces into the Krakow ghetto just across the river in Podgórze, and most did not survive the war. The House of Ogiński, feminine form: Ogińska, plural: Ogińscy (, ) was a noble family of Grand Duchy of Lithuania and Poland (later, the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth), member of the Princely houses of Poland and Lithuania. They were most likely of Rurikid stock, related to Chernihiv Knyaz family, and originated from the Smolensk region, incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in approximately the fourteenth century. Samogitians ( Samogitian: ''žemaitē'', , ) are the inhabitants of Samogitia, an ethnographic region of Lithuania. Many speak the Samogitian language, which in Lithuania is mostly considered a dialect of the Lithuanian language together with the Aukštaitian dialect. The Samogitian language differs the most from the standard Lithuanian language. Whether Samogitians are considered to be a distinct ethnic group or merely a subset of Lithuanians varies.
