Große Freiheit 36
Große Freiheit 36 is a music club on Große Freiheit street in Hamburg's St. Pauli district. The Kaiserkeller is in its basement. History Already in the 1940s, the address was home to the "Hippodrom", a club that had been made famous in the films of Hans Albers. It featured a rotunda filled with wood chips, in which guests and regular artistes would ride on horses. During the second world war, the building was destroyed by bomb attacks, but it was rebuilt after the end of the war. Bruno Koschmider (1926-2000), an ex-trapeze artist, opened the Kaiserkeller in October 1959 at Große Freiheit 36 with place for 550 guests (not seated). On 19 September 1985 the music club opened under the current name ''Große Freiheit 36'' with a concert by the blues guitarist Rory Gallagher. One year later, the Kaiserkeller reopened, and a Café was set up in the upper level. Große Freiheit
The Große Freiheit (German for: "Great Freedom") is a street starting on the North Side to Hamburg's Reeperbahn road in the St. Pauli quarter. It is part of the red-light district. History The street was named in 1610 after the fact that Count Ernest of Schaumburg and Holstein-Pinneberg had granted religious freedom to non-Lutherans such as Mennonites and Roman Catholics to practise their faith here and commercial freedom for handcrafters not enrolled in the else compelling guilds. At that time this district was part of the city of Altona within the county of Holstein-Pinneberg, and did not yet belong to Hamburg. When the Duchy of Holstein-Glückstadt annexed Holstein-Pinneberg in 1640 the comital freedoms were confirmed. Faith No More is an American Rock music, rock band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1979. Before September 1983, the band performed under the names Sharp Young Men and later Faith No Man. Bassist Billy Gould, keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Roddy Bottum and drummer Mike Bordin are the longest-remaining members of the band, having been involved since its inception. The band underwent several early lineup changes, and some major changes later. Pearl Jam
Pearl Jam is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1990. Blur (band)
Blur are an English rock band formed in London in 1988. The band consists of singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bassist Alex James, and drummer Dave Rowntree. Their debut album, ''Leisure'' (1991), incorporated the sounds of Madchester and shoegaze. Following a stylistic change influenced by English guitar pop groups such as the Kinks, the Beatles, and XTC, Blur released the albums '' Modern Life Is Rubbish'' (1993), ''Parklife'' (1994), and '' The Great Escape'' (1995). Héroes del Silencio (Spanish: ''Heroes of Silence'') (well known as Héroes or HDS) was a Spanish rock band from Zaragoza, formed by guitarist Juan Valdivia and singer Enrique Bunbury. The lineup was completed by bassist Joaquín Cardiel and drummer Pedro Andreu. During the 1980s they experienced success around Spain and Americas, the Americas, and in various European countries including Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Yugoslavia, and Portugal. Gloria Fowles (born September 7, 1943), known professionally as Gloria Gaynor, is an American singer, best known for the disco era hits "I Will Survive" (1978), "I Have a Right, Let Me Know (I Have a Right)" (1979), "I Am What I Am (Broadway musical song), I Am What I Am" (1983), and her version of "Never Can Say Goodbye" (1974). Leningrad Cowboys
The Leningrad Cowboys were a Finnish rock band who perform rock and roll covers of other songs. They had exaggerated pompadour hairstyles and wore long, pointy shoes. They often worked with the Russian military band the Alexandrov Ensemble. Beginnings The band was an invention of the Finnish film director Aki Kaurismäki together with Sakke Järvenpää and Mato Valtonen, members of the Finnish comedy rock band Sleepy Sleepers. William Everett Preston (September 2, 1946 – June 6, 2006) was an American keyboardist, singer, and songwriter whose work encompassed R&B, rock, soul, funk, and gospel. Preston was a top session keyboardist in the 1960s, backing Little Richard, Sam Cooke, Ray Charles, the Everly Brothers, Reverend James Cleveland, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones. Louis Andrew Grammatico (born May 2, 1950), known professionally as Lou Gramm, is an American singer and songwriter.
