Grover
Grover is a blue Muppet character on the PBS/HBO children's television show ''Sesame Street''. Self-described as lovable, cute, and furry, he is a blue monster who rarely uses contractions when he speaks or sings. Grover was originally performed by Frank Oz from his earliest appearances. Eric Jacobson has performed the character regularly from the year 1998 onwards. Origins A prototype version of Grover appeared on ''The Ed Sullivan Show'' on Christmas Eve in 1967. This puppet had greenish-brown fur and a red nose. He also had a raspier voice – somewhat like Cookie Monster's – and was played a bit more unkempt than Grover would later behave. Alistair Cookie
''Monsterpiece Theater'' (later called ''Monsterpiece Theatre'') is a recurring segment on the popular children's television series ''Sesame Street'', a parody of ''Masterpiece Theatre''. Format While using Muppet characters to act out educational principles, primarily Grover and other Muppet monsters, ''Monsterpiece Theater'' is also a parody of the similarly acclaimed PBS show ''Masterpiece Theatre'', now known simply as ''Masterpiece''. The theme song is also a modified version of ''Fanfare-Rondeau'', the ''Masterpiece'' theme song, only with trumpets and a much more upbeat tempo. Eric Jacobson (born January 15, 1971) is an American puppeteer. He is best known for his involvement with the Muppets, performing Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, and Sam Eagle for The Muppets Studio, as well as ''Sesame Street'' characters Bert, Grover, Oscar the Grouch, Guy Smiley and the left head of the Two-Headed Monster—all roles that he inherited from the characters' original performers, Frank Oz, Caroll Spinney, Jim Henson and Joey Mazzarino. Frank Oz
Frank Richard Oznowicz (born May 25, 1944), known professionally as Frank Oz, is an American puppeteer, filmmaker and actor. He is best known for his involvement with Jim Henson and George Lucas through ''The Muppets'', ''Sesame Street'', and ''Star Wars'', as well as his directorial work in feature films and theater. The son of puppeteers, Oz worked as an apprentice puppeteer during his teenage years in Oakland, California. The Sesame Street Muppets are a group of puppet characters created by Jim Henson, many for the purpose of appearing on the children's television program ''Sesame Street''. Henson's involvement in ''Sesame Street'' began when he and Joan Ganz Cooney, one of the creators of the show, met in the summer of 1968, at one of the show's five three-day curriculum planning seminars in Boston. Author Christopher Finch reported that director Jon Stone, who had worked with Henson previously, felt that if they could not bring him on board, they should "make do without puppets". Smell Like a Man, Man is a television advertising campaign in the United States created by ad agency Wieden+Kennedy for the Old Spice brand of male grooming products, owned by Procter & Gamble. James Maury Henson (September 24, 1936 – May 16, 1990) was an American puppeteer, animator, actor, and filmmaker who achieved worldwide notability as the creator of the Muppets. Henson was also well known for creating ''Fraggle Rock'' (1983–1987) and as the director of ''The Dark Crystal'' (1982) and ''Labyrinth (1986 film), Labyrinth'' (1986).
