Ground-Based Radar Prototype
The Ground-Based Radar Prototype (GBR-P) is an X-band mechanically slewed phased array radar system. It functions primarily as a fire control radar for national missile defence, ballistic missile defence. The radar is used for surveillance (autonomously or by cue from other sensors), and is designed to acquire, track, discriminate targets and provide kill assessment. The system is currently located at the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands. X-band
The X band is the designation for a band of frequency, frequencies in the microwave radio region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Phased Array Radar
A phaser is an electronic sound processor used to filter a signal by creating a series of peaks and troughs in the frequency spectrum. The position of the peaks and troughs of the waveform being affected is typically modulated by an internal low-frequency oscillator so that they vary over time, creating a sweeping effect. Phasers are often used to give a "synthesized" or electronic effect to natural sounds, such as human speech. Process The electronic phasing effect is created by splitting an audio signal into two paths. One path treats the signal with an all-pass filter, which preserves the amplitude of the original signal and alters the phase. The amount of change in phase depends on the frequency. When signals from the two paths are mixed, the frequencies that are out of phase will cancel each other out, creating the phaser's characteristic notches. A fire-control radar (FCR) is a radar that is designed specifically to provide information (mainly target azimuth, elevation, range and range rate) to a fire-control system in order to direct weapons such that they hit a target. The Sea-Based X-band radar (SBX-1) is a floating, self-propelled, mobile active electronically scanned array early-warning radar station designed to operate in high winds and heavy seas. The Solid State Phased Array Radar System (SSPARS), colloquially Ballistic Missile Early Warning System radar network (BMEWS radar network), is a United States Space Force radar, computer, and communications system for missile warning and space surveillance.
