West Vale
West Vale is a village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. The village falls within the Greetland and Stainland parish of the Calderdale Council. It is south of Halifax, west of Elland and north-west of Huddersfield. Location West Vale is situated directly east of Greetland and is primarily based around Rochdale Road, Saddleworth Road and Stainland Road. These roads form a triangle within West Vale. West Vale is part of Greetland. The reason it is not called East Vale is because it used to be part of Elland District Council who historically 'gave' the area to Greetland. Stainland
Stainland is a village in the civil parish of Stainland and District, in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. The village is part of the Greetland and Stainland ward of Calderdale Council and is approximately west of Elland, south of Halifax, West Yorkshire, Halifax and north-west of Huddersfield. History Early routes and tracks followed high ground to avoid the marshy and wooded valley bottoms and it was on one such high level packhorse route that Stainland developed. The Stainland Cross remains as evidence of man's activity there in the medieval times. The village's name comes from Old Norse and means ''Stony land''; the land around Stainland is not very fertile. Halifax, West Yorkshire
Halifax is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Calderdale, in West Yorkshire, England. It is in the eastern foothills of the Pennines. Halifax Cricket League
The Halifax Cricket League is the premier cricket competition in the town of Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. In the league, there are also clubs from the nearby Calder Valley, city of Bradford, town of Huddersfield and the Spen Valley. League beginnings The league was established at a meeting on 29 July 1913 at the Upper George Hotel in Halifax. The following year, the Halifax Parish Cricket League began with 10 members - ''Triangle, Greetland, Sowerby Bridge, Stainland, Illingworth St Mary's, Lightcliffe, Siddal, Clifton Britannia, Norwood Green and Elland Edge'' Six of the original clubs are still playing in the league. Barkisland
Barkisland () is a village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is east of Ripponden, south of Sowerby Bridge and south-west of Halifax town centre. The village is in the Ryburn ward of Calderdale. Barkisland has a school, a church, a post office and a cricket club that plays in the Huddersfield Cricket League. There are two pubs in Barkisland, The Fleece Countryside Inn and The Griffin Inn.
