Greenhill Transmitting Station
The Greenhill television relay station is sited on high ground known as "Greenhill" to the south of the towns of Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock in south Wales. It was originally built in the 1980s as a fill-in relay for UHF analogue television covering the communities of Pwllcrochan, Wallaston Cross, Wallaston Green, Rhoscrowther and Hundleton. It consists of a 45 m self-supporting lattice steel mast standing on a hillside which is itself about 75 m above sea level. The transmissions are beamed broadly south to cover its targets. The Greenhill transmission station is owned and operated by Arqiva. Greenhill transmitter re-radiates the signal received off-air from Carmel about 45 km to the northeast. Carmel Transmitting Station
The Carmel transmitting station, located half a mile (0.8km) SSW of the village of Carmel in Carmarthenshire, has been broadcasting terrestrial TV and radio services since the mid-1970s. The TV coverage area for the Carmel transmission station includes most of Carmarthenshire, the southern and eastern parts of Pembrokeshire; the southern fringes of Powys and Ceredigion; the northern part of Swansea. The Carmel signal is also receivable in parts of Neath Port Talbot, Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taff. Places as far away as Merthyr Tydfil and the north Devon coast are also able to receive signals from Carmel. BBC Two Wales is the national variation of BBC Two for BBC Cymru Wales. It is broadcast from Central Square in Cardiff with live continuity provided by a team of announcer/directors. Rhoscrowther
Rhoscrowther ( cy, Rhoscrowdder) was a village, ecclesiastical parish and civil parish in Pembrokeshire, Wales on the south shore of the Milford Haven Waterway. The placename is Welsh and perhaps means "crwth-player's moor". It is part of the community of Angle. History In 1833, the parish population was 231, mostly employed in agriculture. Much of the parish and almost all the medieval village except the church was cleared during the establishment of the BP oil terminal southwest of the village in 1961 and during the construction of the Texaco Pembroke Refinery immediately to the north in 1964. At 18:20 on 2 June 2011, a 730 cubic metre storage tank exploded killing four refinery workers and seriously injuring a fifth.
