Grant Township is a township in Douglas County, Kansas, USA. As of the 2000 census, its population was 442. History Grant Township was annexed from the extreme southern portion of Sarcoxie Township in Jefferson County in 1872. The largest town was called Jefferson until it was renamed North Lawrence in 1870. Geography Grant Township covers an area of and contains no incorporated settlements. According to the USGS, it contains one cemetery, Maple Grove. Henry Van Brunt
Henry Van Brunt FAIA (September 5, 1832 – April 8, 1903) was a 19th-century American architect and architectural writer. Life and work Van Brunt was born in Boston in 1832 to Gershom Jacques Van Brunt and Elizabeth Price Bradlee. Van Brunt attended Boston Latin School, and graduated from Harvard College in 1854. From 1854 to 1857, he apprenticed with architect George Snell, then worked with Richard Morris Hunt, in New York City. During the Civil War, Van Brunt served as Secretary to the Admiral of the North Atlantic Squadron, United States Navy. He resigned on February 15, 1864. In the 1860s Van Brunt and fellow Harvard graduate William Robert Ware established the architectural firm of Ware & Van Brunt. The firm produced designs for many buildings in the Boston area, including Harvard University's Memorial Hall, "said to be one of the greatest examples of Ruskinian Gothic architecture outside of England". K-32 (Kansas Highway)
K-32, also known as the Kaw Valley Scenic Highway, is an approximately east–west state highway in the Kansas City metropolitan area of Kansas. K-32's western terminus is just outside Lawrence at U.S. Route 24 (US-24) and US-40. Its eastern terminus is at US-69, also known as the 18th Street Expressway, in Kansas City. Along the way it intersects several major highways, including K-7 in Bonner Springs as well as Interstate 435 (I-435) and I-635 in Kansas City. In Kansas City, K-32 follows the Turner Diagonal from Kaw Drive to Kansas Avenue. From its western terminus to Bonner Springs, the highway is a two-lane rural highway; the remaining section is a four-lane highway that runs through residential areas. Kansas Turnpike
The Kansas Turnpike is a , freeway-standard toll road that lies entirely within the US state of Kansas. It runs in a general southwest–northeast direction from the Oklahoma border to Kansas City. It passes through several major Kansas cities, including Wichita, Topeka, and Lawrence. The turnpike is owned and maintained by the Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA), which is headquartered in Wichita. Interstate 70 (I-70) is a mainline route of the Interstate Highway System in the United States connecting Cove Fort, Utah, to Baltimore, Maryland. In the US state of Kansas, I-70 extends just over from the Colorado border near the town of Kanorado to the Missouri border in Kansas City. I-70 in Kansas contains the first segment in the country to start being paved and to be completed in the Interstate Highway System. The route passes through several of the state's principal cities in the process, including Kansas City, Topeka, and Salina. Lawrence is the county seat of Douglas County, Kansas, United States, and the sixth-largest city in the state.
