The Polish State Railways ( , abbr.: PKP S.A.) is a Polish state-owned holding company (legally a sole-shareholder company of the State Treasury) comprising the rail transport holdings of the country's formerly dominant namesake railway operator. Gołotczyzna is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Sońsk, within Ciechanów County, Masovian Voivodeship, in north-central Poland. It lies approximately west of Sońsk, south of Ciechanów, and north of Warsaw. History Gołotczyzna was a private village of the Ostoja-Ostaszewski noble family, administratively located in the Masovian Voivodeship in the Greater Poland Province of the Kingdom of Poland. In 1827 Gołotczyzna had a population of 30, which by the 1880s grew to 122. According to the 1921 census, the village with the adjacent manor farm had a population of 141, entirely Polish by nationality and 95.0% Roman Catholic by confession. During the Korean War, in 1951–1953, Poland admitted 200 North Korean orphans in the village. Ciechanów County () is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Masovian Voivodeship, east-central Poland. It came into being on January 1, 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998. Its administrative seat and largest town is Ciechanów, which lies north of Warsaw. History The company was founded in 2004 as a joint venture of the Masovian Voivodeship, with 51% shares, and the then government-owned PKP Przewozy Regionalne, with 49% shares, to handle local passenger traffic in the Voivodeship.
